Its just a subject Im interested in,to be honest. I dont suffer from it myself...God, It would take an earthquake to stop me going to sleep, or wake me up!
But I dont know alot about it. I was truely interested in others opinions...
Not that I've been officilly dignosed with it but I think I have bouts with this on some occasions? I wake up fighting for air> It's almost like I forget how to breath.
As soon as I start to slip into deep sleep, the apnea starts and it wakes me up partially. So although I do sleep some, it's what they call non-refreshing sleep with almost no deep sleep or REM.
It's actually closely related to snoring, just more severe so that it cuts the breathing totally.
When I was diagnosed, I spent a night at a sleep clinic and had to sleep with a tight mask over my nose and mouth that measured my breathing and a clip on my finger that measured the oxygenation of my blood.
The machine registered over 150 times that night that my breathing stopped momentarily during the night. Each time I would partially wake up in order to breath. So my sleep is seriously broken.
For about 9 months I tried using a machine that puts positive air pressue on the windpipe during sleep. But it actually made things worse and prevented me from sleeping at all.
The best thing I found is a rubber mouthguard like boxers use. Once I got used to it I hardly notice it at all and can sleep with it. It keeps my jaws slightly open and thereby prevents the sagging of the windpipe that would otherwise block the air passage.
I have suffered from insomnia for 17 years. On a good day I get 4 hours of sleep. I've worked night shift most of my adult life, so when its a.m. to most people, its P.M. to me. It can be rough at times. I however try to keep a positive attitude about it though, I can get more things done in a day due to not spending all my time sleeping.

Yes I have it , I think milions of people have this problem . I never used the pills to sleep ,then when I can not sleep I prefer to read or to watch a movie sometimes the TV is a good remedy to sleep
I had sleep Apnoea for many years (about 7). It took ages to diagnose as I would go to work and start falling asleep at the desk by 11am. I had to sleep in the car at lunch time so I could face the afternoon but by 3.30pm I was falling asleep again. It was horrible when I stopped breathing and as I was half asleep/awake it would seem as if suffocating in my dream. I had to force myself to breath as if stuck underwater and trying desperately to get to the surface to take a breath...
I could not drive for more than an hour before I had to pull over for a nap and I could fall asleep anywhere even in stationary traffic at the lights. It was related to my snoring which had got worse as I began to gain weight.
I was told many people have it and it goes undiagnosed as falling asleep all the time does not seem so serious.
First thing is I lost my drving licence till I was better. It's a notifiable disease to the driving authority. I had a CPAP machine that stabilised the condition (Is uses air pressure to keep the airway open during sleep) but the main issue was my weight.
To get better I created my own special diet and I lost 15 stone (210 pounds which was over half my body weight ) in a year and I’ve kept it off ever since. This cured my condition so there is a way to fix it if it's caused by being overweight
Otherwise the CPAP works wonders and you’ll feel yourself again even if you look and sound like Darth Vader in the bedroom.
That could be a turn on for some guys...
JOKE Darth ’Luke I know what you’re getting for Christmas’ Luke ‘How do you know Darth’ Darth ‘I felt your presents..’
Yeah I know it’s bad...
