opentuit: ...still around 400 miles to Vancouver/Victoria. You would drive that far to see me???

That's possible, if the timimg is right. Here in Canada a 400 mile drive isn't a big deal, seeing as there's only about 35 million people, in the second largest country on the planet. We're scattered about a little thin.laugh

Even more tempting if there's beer involved too. beer grin

Hmmm, how's that? Is it from living with people of another country/culture that does it?

Do you miss anything about Canada? Other than the weather?laugh

I've been telling people for years, Canadians don't have accents, unless you're from Newfoundland or Quebec.laugh

They still don't believe me though.roll eyes

kidatheart: What does being a Canadian mean to you?

How do you identify yourself and relate in the mix of cultures we have living together in Canada?

Do we actually have a national identity?

conversing It seems Canadians are generally felt to be warm and friendly, although a little reserved.

Would have to feel one for myself to be sure cool

Interesting topic.
I have never regretted coming to Canada.
Someone told me many years ago; You DP's come
over here and buy land etc.
When I reminded him that he had been here before me, he
became silent.
I know had I stayed in Holland I would never have been able to own my own home.
I did feel the big differents when living in Ontario for four years, how little B.C. seems to count.
Like we are to far away and yes we are.
Yes the Western provinces want to separate but this should never
happen.
Just like Quebec should stay.
I feel pround to now be a Canadian and been here since 1958.

Most of the people I know that have come to Canada have never regretted coming here, including my relatives. They all came in the fifties and sixties, and are nearly all Canadian citizens now.
