Talking about accents.
I still have my Dutch accent.
I only have to say on the phone; "Hello" and my friends recognize me.
How bad do I sound Kim?
Lol, when I heard myself on tape, I did not talk for three days.

My Dutch meighbour wants nothing to do with Holland anymore.
Yes he has two large windmills in the backyard and one in the front.???
Refuses to speak Dutch anylonger.
I speak mostly English too, but how can you forget/deny where you grow up?
I still read, write and can speak Dutch it is now just easier in English.

Born in TO, but been out west here for over 30 years, and still doesn't feel like home. Might be the cold weather, hard to get comfy when your teeth chatter for 10 1/2 months of the year.laugh

Try dressing warmly enough for the weather. That's the number one reason people dislike winter..

I just don't like wearing all the clothes period. laugh

That and being cold sucks, as does shovelling snow, and driving in all that crap. There's nothing all that appealing about winter to me. I'd rather be somewhere warm and sunny when the snowflakes start falling.cool

I could be happy wearing nothing but a loin cloth.banana laugh

Something I received in an email.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an Canadian and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an Canadian, and nothing but an Canadian...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an Canadian, but something else also, isn't an Canadian at all. We have room for but one flag, the Canadian flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the Canadian people.'

Home grown in Canada that's me...From what I know natives were not Canadians just like everyone else until Canada became a nation in 1867. Before that we all had cultural identities. For me my only identity is Canadian.
