DottieDoodles: Hi! What a fab thread! :) What is Screech please?

I emigrated here from the UK 2 years ago. I have a website - which is actually currently under construction but its kinda huge
and basically all about how wonderful I find Canada to be!

I came over when I was 12 initially, and visited many times between then and finally living the dream, and becoming a PR of this awesome country.

For me - Canada is just the most awesome country. I'd never want to live anywhere else and I've travelled extensively.

The people: You are so friendly, and patriotic! I love that! Your children are polite and well mannered AND family values are a joy to behold! Everything is child friendly over here! People take their children to restaurants in the evening! Now you might think that's par for the course, but believe me not in the UK! Whole families go and have big picnics and BBQ's and visit amussement parks. Its awesome. You guys work to live over here instead of living to work. That's the way it should be!

The Climate: Snow AND hot summers oh and beautiful falls. Perfect!

The truly GREAT Outdoors: OMG camping over here is so much fun! I LOVE how everyone (well a majority of people it seems) love to be outdoors all the time. Even just being able to do outdoor skating and swimming is divine to someone brought up in the rainy climes of the UK! We have probably spent more time outdoors in the past 2 years than the previous 10 in the UK put together. Maybe even more!!

Natural Beauty: Enough said! Supreme! Haven't explored anywhere other than Ontario yet but I hear its gorgeous everywhere you go and I can't wait to see it all for myself!

I feel supremely honoured to be a resident of Canada and I can't wait to take my citizenship next year which will just be the icing on the cake.Your country simply rocks!PS. My blog is still up and running so you can go check it out if you are so inclined!
The rest of the site should be about soon! But of course its summer and I'm not indoors much now! LOL! ;)

Yes, the greatest country on earth, in my opinion. Me too, I have traveled extensively, lived and worked in 7 countries worldwide. I find Canada to be the best among all of them.
I immigrated here from France 11 years ago, I am now a Canadian citizen. I have even lived in the US longer than Canada but now Canada is home for me ...

kidatheart: What does being a Canadian mean to you?

How do you identify yourself and relate in the mix of cultures we have living together in Canada?

Do we actually have a national identity?

Actually, I'm just visiting Canada..... because there is someone special there who makes me feel all happy placeteddybear

True Canada doesnt have any official ways of denoting Canadianism.

Isnt the essence, the experience of living in Canada, the way we live our national identity?

How we act, treat others, our friendliness and compassion - does that not identify us ? So far it has around the world.

What more do we need? I myself enjoy neighbours that bring traditions, foods and music from around the world. Being able to share that is Canadian perhaps.

TOP REASONS TO LIVE IN ALBERTA
1. Big rock between you and B.C.
2. Ottawa who?
3. Tax is 5% instead of the approximately 200% it is for the rest of the country.
4. You can exploit almost any natural resource you can think of.
5. You live in the only province that could actually afford to be its own country.
6. The Americans below you are all in anti-militia groups

Thank you, Kid. I want to move to Alberta. I have had enough of Ontario.

Alberta has even more to offer, like 8 months of winter, the same useless Conservative government for 40 years, cold, flat land until you hit the Rocky mountains, snow, work until you can't work anymore, and bad weather for the 4 months of summer.laugh wave

And I hear Calgary is even more expensive than Toronto. I am professionally a Computer Business Analyst and I have had some recruiters contact me about job opportunities in Calgary. I am reluctant to move to another province. I moved back to Canada from the US just 3.5 years ago and Europe just 5.5 years ago.

To me being a canadian means being ever so proud of who i am and of the fact that we as canadians have so many freedoms. We can all be proud of Canada and her position in the world. Being a Canadian means walking tall and proud and strong, singing our national anthem loud and strong and free. We should all be proud to wave our flag high and strong. WE ARE PROUD CANADIANS

everything that has been posted about being a Canadian, has been excellent. I've enjoyed reading the whole post (even though it started ages ago, lol)

Do you know what word most symbolizes Canadians? (heard this on tv awhile ago and was shocked)

Nope, it's not "eh" wow

It's the word "Sorry" canada

Just have a listen next time you are walking down the street (any street, any town). I did, and it was hilarious, but true. laugh

Canuck is slang for Canadian. Kind of like Yankee is American.

Canadians are normally warm, down to earth people. Maybe you'll find your self a good Canadian boy!
