i am not looking for a discussion of if there is or isnt a god

i was just walkin by a room with a TV blaring and i overheard what sounded like some type of reality show and a person was whining about being misunderstood or they felt themselves wrongly accused maybe?

so what i hear is this whining defensive voice saying
"but how could you think i would do that? you know im a spiritual person!" and i just thot

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?frustrated

i mean i hear believers, non believers, all types say this about themselves- just cruise the profiles on any singles site-
not only as a box to tick but in the self written descriptions they say "i am a spiritual person"

what do you think when you read or hear that?
what does it mean when you say it?
how important is it?

and for fun- whats the least spiritual act/remark youve witnessed from a Spiritual Person?

I say I am "Spiritual" in my profile and what that means to me is that I think there is a higher power out there in the either.

It does not have a human form and does not belong to any one religion.

It does a lot of good for many people and I am prepared to accept it for what it is...... a higher power, not to be bent or malformed by man to suit his evil desire for power over others.

We already have the power over us, just embrace it for what it is.

Simple really wave

I use it.
All it means to me is that I am-or see myself-as a person of good will.
No metaphysic or cosmology.
Alas,we do not see ourselves as others see us.
But it's ourselves we have to live with, foremost.

Hi Mindful! Good question! I used to call myself spiritual as opposed to religious. Now it feels like just another thing to get into ego identification over. Nothing wrong with that, but it seems as limiting as any other label/identification.

It has been fun, or maybe interesting is a better word, to work through my preconceived notions about good versus bad, right and wrong, all the duality issues. I get to practice all the time, becoming aware of my beliefs and how they limit me. The more that comes up the more I realize I don't really know anything.

Spiritual people are usually filled with spirits and the spirits are usually about 90 proof. I'm always very leery of anyone that describes themselves as 'spiritual' Right; they're either drunks or alcoholics and reek of booze when you meet them...and they are the ones who usually prefer to meet in some cheap run down bar always around their 'cocktail/ Happy Hour'... Their 'Happy Hour' is rather sad.sigh

I believe in a higher power.... if it is "god" by name or power elsse wise, I noted a post earlier stating that when they let god take over their life goes better? Sorry to tell ya buddy but you must have been the shiny thing god seen and got distracted by when I tried the same thing because instead of him taking over I ended up driving into a brick wall rolling on the floor laughing not good I tell you rolling on the floor laughing I still look like a Pug puppy after that nose smash rolling on the floor laughing
