We should not be drilling for OIL at depths where we have no control. Drill YES. But there has to be limits set.
We have no business drilling at such deep depths.
If we can't go that deep to stop a disaster, we have no business
drilling that deep.

If Obama wants to do something other than be a cheer leader, let him start with this. Making promises for change only works, if change is for the better! frustrated

I am sorry to say so but sometimes i feel that Mr. O talks more than do, then bring not much benefits for USA in particular and for the world in general.

You seem to have it figured out. So now that the animal has escaped the barn how do YOU propose they fix the problem - of course I'm going to assume that its a very easy problem to fix, then you can fax over the solution to the White House. Placing blame is one thing finding a workable solution is another.wine

I would think if you do something you would take into account the possible negative effects and have plans and back up plans to cover the consequences. Oh wait, scratch that . . . there's the tobacco companies.

If you don't care who's in office, why mention Obama's name in two seperate threads on this subject?

Maybe you should read up on other oil drilling disaters over the last century, and shipping as well.

Do you remember the Exxon Valdez? Maybe they shouldn't put oil in to such large ships. roll eyes

Do you honestly believe this is the only deep offshore drilling rig poking a hole into the ocean floor? laugh

Look up Geand Banks, North Sea, Indonesia, etc....

Why blame Obama?

Didn't the drilling start before he was in office? Agreed to before he took over?

If the USA didn't use as damn much, you wouldn't need so damn much!

Isn't the Depth, but putting down an Automatic Shutoff Valve, that wasn't functional!
Non-functional at any depth, since the Hydraulic Shutoff Cylinder was not hooked in for some ungodly reason!frustrated frustrated frustrated

Venusruled: I've talked to people from Europe who are visiting here and they say they are flabbergast at all the SUVs on the highways. It is just insane, I agree. There was a tax credit on the books when Mr. Bush was president that had a loop hole in it. It gave a tax credit to vehicles purchased weighing over 6000 pounds (I think that was the weight). So all these folks went out and bought huge vehicles in order to get the tax credit. Sooo weird!

The main problem is that you don't really have any other forms of transport, public transport like Europe has trains, so you have to use cars, but I agree, those big SUV's are insane.

Mr. SoldierByte, I believe you are one of the funniest people on this site! rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

And, Steve, you are right. I think that's why they all started putting those push bar deals on the front of their SUVs, so they don't even have to be bothered with slowing down when they run someone off the road.very mad
