My earliest memory is from age 4. It was summertime and I was walking down a path at a summer camp that we went to every year because my mother was actually the camp counselor. It was a beautiful warm day and the path was lined with honeysuckle bushes. Suddenly it was like opening my eyes for the first time. I could smell the sweet fragrance of the flowers, I could see the sky, hear the birds and feel the warmth from the sun. It was an awakening. It was the first time I became aware that I was. I was born that day.
My earliest memory was me being in hospital with meningitis,my sisters werent allowed in to see me and i was taken to the window to wave to them,i still remember screaming for my sisters and i was only a year and a half old,im very lucky to be alive..

I think I was about 6 at the time....... I was climbing the huge oak tree in our back garden and had managed to get close to the top.
Reaching out to try and reach the last branch to conquer the summit, I slipped and fell..........
Hit every branch on the way down, which might explain alot, but fortunately they broke my fall........ Hit the shed roof in a dazed and confused state, but remember thinking as I lay there...... I was invincible
I remember I had a BIG crush on Batman...so I would jump on the swings pump my legs as hard as I could to go as high as I could, Then jump off and yell Yadaddada Batman!!! ...Good lord!

Humm...I remember many, but this one really is inbedded in my head....
The day I arrived at Bording School, I was like 10, my parents spoke little English so they were as lost as I was, with my crispy new uniform on...extra big as I was told I would grow into it............ looking like a orphan, standing there amongst other kids with the same expression on their faces.....watching how the Nun's called out every name and then to be taken by the hand , lead away from the comfort zone of ur parents, I thought It was the end of the world. A kiss on the cheek and a pat on the back I said farewell to Mum and Dad,a lumb in my throat mt heart beating twice as fast, as the tears came rolling down my face......I will never forget that as long as I shall live.............. In the end it wasent all that bad, turned out to be one of the best childhood time of my life...............Though the Nun's didnt think the same...

One thing about childhood that I am constantly reminded of, in every day life is.....
That when you are going down hill on your bike at what seems like 100mph and hit a brick wall or tree, or fall out of that tree, or the rope swing breaks and you hurtle towards the ground............ You bounce !!
Nowadays, I trip over a discarded cigarette packet on the pavement and end up pulling a muscle, or with some other injury
This tune reminds me of those days and when I see my youngest, with no fear, I just have to smile.

I have the same memory. I thought my mother was abandoning me, I felt betrayed. How could she do this to me? Isn't it funny how quickly you get over such a thing? By the end of the day I was laughing and having fun with all the other kids.

yes it is..................But when my own kids went to school for the first time, I then could understand what they were going through, though I picked them up a few hours later, not weeks later....

what a beautiful story.....thankyou for sharing
My first memory was I think I was 3 and I had been living in the UK with my mother for a year, and dad was back here in Australia, we travelled back by boat, and I remember standing on the bow of the ship as it docked back in Sydney and looking down to lots of fish in the water and my DAD standing on the dock with a brand NEW BIKE for me and a sewing machine for mum.....

I remember when i was 5 being in Northern Ireland on holiday, my father took me on a walk and lifted me up to see the salmon jumping upstream, i'll never forget it, the fish seemed huge and i was fascinated that they were leaping out of the water.
