Nein Maisie! I once had a most interesting discussion with a Swiss all about Jack Russell dogs, and how many I had, and what they did, and admired his huge big brute dog that was sitting under the table ... so much so that the next time I met him and his dog in the street his dog jumped up and put his paws on my shoulders and licked my chin!

But, of course, that was an evening of total boredom where I just sat and drank my beers while my son and his wife talked to other Swissies .. and I got SO drunk... and intelligent sounding. The guy with the dog thought I really spoke Swissgerman .. hahahahaaa .... THAT is what Swissgerman really sounds like ..... you gotta drink at least 5 large beers and then the words slide over your tongue .....drinking and all becomes quite clear!

No, it is no fun getting pissed. That is quite a stupid passtime, and leaves you feeling miserable.

You gotta drink really good whisky, on the rocks first, then adding German Soda water (not Swiss), slowly ...... it just takes the sharp edges off reality. Of course, salt water could do the same, but it leaves you feeling very thirsty, hence why I prefer Whisky.

Beer is okay, and more affordable if one is in a restaurant .... a tot of whisky would buy a crate of it to take home! And anyway, I only drink in restaurants if someone else is paying for it....drinking ..... and I`m not the driver.

Let’s continue the wisdom sharing:

Wick men sleep with their faces in soup, strong men sleep with their faces in dessert, and only a super-man sways after his lady all the way to her home.

But back to the thread: the experienced ones claim that there’s nothing as refreshing as sleeping with your face in fruit salad.

I don´t really know, but I think it may have something to do with the fact that the majority don´t seem to work, or have many interests, so they become bored and start mixing with other ex-pats in their own pubs and restaurants.

It´s a mystery to me too. Maybe they were partial to the alcohol before they left their own country and with no work they can give free rein to their drinking and do it all day long. dunno

Not all are like this though. I live amongst Spanish people because I work, so I don´t see many English people unless I take a trip to the coast.

Well as you know I drink gallons of the stuff every day - pints and pints of hot tea, splash of milk, no sugar!
