Why do some people keep on being nasty after you have broken up? Weeks and months later they say things to hurt you that you don't deserve.

Is it to just get under you skin? Is it to try to get communicating with you again? What is it? I don't understand.

Seems like revenge…

I’ve had a former “friend” like that. She drank a lot and when drunk had a tendency to tell “truth” about her next men and women. I stopped to communicate with her, and, lo and behold, the “true stories” got even worst. A couple of times she made scenes in front of a public accusing me in leaving her. At a merci of a fate or some such? A rather tricky task to accomplish as she was married and had 2 children…laugh

Disgusting and annoying… and difficult to defend yourself against that…

sigh

yep it is, it doesn't seem to matter if I respond or not. I'm sick of it now. Just want him to leave me alone. He's made it clear that he doesn't want a relationship but instead of moving on seems to take pleasure in being nasty to me.

Oh well, he'll find another form of entertainment soon I hope.

A very unpleasant situation, isn’t it? To show that it doesn’t affect you can help sometimes, perhaps he would lose interest in pestering you as his “efforts” don’t hit the target. To ridicule his behavior, to make some kind of a caricature of him in front of people that matters for him can work as well, as doing nothing, just suffering in silence, doesn’t. And the best of all is not to give a damn.

cheers

A simple calm clear emotionless confrontation sometimes will help shame the person into better behavior-especially if they still on some level want your approval.

Why do they do it?well they are in pain in some way-probably cos they know they messed up,and don't know how to make the pain go away/or simply miss you,but don't know how to have a healthy relationship with you-so are trying to draw you into a row to have an explosive end cos they lack the power to detach as things stand.

Maybe they just got nothing better to do in their lives...? You were the most exciting thing that happened to them .... and now they`re bored ..... or guilty of something....? ... or angry about losing their "control" over their "victim"....?

Oh yeah, the Dented Ego Syndrome! hahahaaaa ...... I had that one too - actually quite funny - I got this nice guy now ... and an ancient old "friend" who was so unreliable and "thought he was doing me a favour to offer a glass of wine" .... well, he`s been ringing my phone every single weekend pleading all sorts of pathetic excuses trying to get some attention. As I said, sad and funny, at the same time .. that a person hangs onto the past and tries to regurgitate something that never was, cause now they lost out.....

More power to me!batting flex crazy .... for a change! hahaaa!... and to YOU!wine

It's to try and get a reaction from you... good or bad.
They are either trying to start dialogue again in the vain attempt to get you back or they are just trying to wind you up.

Completely ignore them. Do not be tempted to say anything back to them at all........ just let them stew in their own stupidity hug

Hi P wave

I agree fully with your post. The worst thing you can do is start up the contact. The worst thing for him is to ignore them.

thumbs up
