Someone mentioned using skype to communicate via telephone on another thread
I used to use it when i did a bit of network marketing and had to call up potential clients all over the world
I think its a great medium for communication, its very clear and easy to set up, its free between users, and you only need headphones with mike if you havent a skype phone
If i had a message from someone from CS that i recognised from the forums that wanted to speak to me via skype ,i wouldnt object
As long it wasnt a scammer
very mad

Do many people here on CS use it?

I have found a lot of times talking on the phone etc...can be hard with the difference of accents and languages. So I tend to shy away from that till I know someone a while. I also have a thick southern accent which even some americans have a hard time with laugh

I was asking if there was any risk that scammers could use your Skype details, I've been asked a few times straight after one email for my skype address, and I never give it out

Cab Scammers use your Skype address????, that was my original question I guess

Yes! scammers are all over Skype now, they ask you to add them to your contact list, just tell them to piss off and block!

I use it all the time, for years now, to talk to family and friends who are far away. If they have internet, the call is free, if they don't, Skype offers rates cheap rates to call landlines or mobiles, depending on the country. I call landlines in Brazil for 2cents! nearly nothing. Skype is a great service.

If you go to settings you can block people from contacting you. Only people to whom you gave your skype name will be able to ask to be added. Now, if we volunteer our info to the wrong people, that is a different story.

They appear mainly frm Africa, and start by trying to get you into a business opportunity, or say they are students looking for friends!
