Hello folks,

I was placed in a strange situation today, and I wondered what your reaction would have been if this happened to you.

A group of close friends (and others) are going out for a meal tonight as one of them is moving away. I was invited to join them last week, but my invitation was withdrawn as my ex would be there. I was told I could still go if I wanted but I shouldn't "kick off".

So I haven't gone, but I've made it known that if they are worried about me "kicking off" - they haven't seen anything yet !!!

What do you think your reaction would have been ??

Hiya c, hope your ok after the last incadent with your ex.
Id be pissed to, it would sum up what friends they really are thinking you was the trouble maker, Why did they drop you and not him, do they know what hes done to you ? I think id be a bit confused at first and then mad.

I think like you that I would be very angry.

Your friends have obviously prejudged the issue but if you can truthfully say to yourself that it is a misjudgement then I would seriously question their motives.

Whose friend are they? yours or his?

Did they issue the same withdrawal and condition to him?

There lies your answer!

Hi Bagelo. Well I don't know you so please don't be offended or think I am judging you here...but..if they are close friends then I imagine they know you pretty well and perhaps they were right in thinking that you would possibly 'kick off'???????? Your last comment also makes me think that your friends may well have had good reason for not inviting you originally. However, you were sensible enough not to go ( maybe because you knew that you would 'kick off'??) so 10 points to you!!!!!!!

If your ex is sly enough to be threatening to you only when no one else was around, then maybe he is not truthfull to some about the situation with you and that may be the problem.

You were wise not to go, what is the point going out and being on edge and maybe only giving him another chance to upset you further.

Yes your closer friends will know you and be worth keeping in touch with.

I guess it's been said by the wise-ones above me hereprofessor , but you really find out who your true friends are in situations like that, just remember who would've prefered you to be there and forget the rest better than getting your feelings hurt again. Hope all goes well with future events, hope thats not too cold an opinion wave

Bagelo, I don't know who your friends are or what they are like, but there is a good chance that this ex of yours might have been telling them a few porkies about you.

Unfortunately, there is no way you can confirm this, as all of them will deny he's been telling them anything whatsoever (plus most people are -wisely enough- of the mentality of not getting involved with domestic arguments, physical or not)

Have you ever thought of moving away from all this?

Cheers

Umm , I agree with Jan and would like to add that you need to be comfortable with your decisions . There are too many 'People ' , 'Gossip' and 'They' in your references . It would be better for you to spend your time doing what you enjoy and stop thinking about 'Them ' .

I refer to "them" as "them" because that's what they are - a group of people, some of which are my friends but not all.

Also, for any of those who have experienced the darker side of being associated with the military, you will agree with me that "the mob" and "gossip" are everywhere with "those small-minded people".

I am happy to associate with some of "them", others I tolerate as I know they first thing "they" do is spread malicious "gossip" as "their" little lives are so boring.

Is that enough quotes for "you" ???

Personally I wouldn't go if an 'ex' was there...

(& you're too busy, coz your an in-demand kinda person with all-sorts goin on in your life!)

Personally, I don't need 'friends' who are so rude as to invite and then withdraw an invitation....tolerating that sort of treatment is just asking for more 2nd class citizen-treatment...

Invitations that come with conditions? Provisional invitations?
Think I'd be accepting one of your many, more pressing invitations...
(and you've got 'other invitations'...even if you have to make them up, while you stay in wearing fluffy slippers and watching a dvd...as far as they know...you're too busy....[make it a comedy dvd, after all this you need a good honest laugh...]

It's a mine field...if he misbehaves, you're trapped: you either behave and put up with him making the evening tortorous for you...or you misbehave and they all have the option of judging you (or him).

Since they seem to giving you a conditional invitation, I presume he's not been given the same conditions...so sounds like he's 'there' and invited no matter what....if so, they've made they're choice (and yup, breakups make people choose a side)....

Looks to me you're looking at a crap shoot with no dice...

Time for you to audition some new friends.

You're a happening, busy career girl on-the-go...
these people don't sound like their really your friends...

Who needs em?!?!

Please take a few minutes and workout how much time you spend on thinking about others per day , deduct it from those many years that you think you live .. and think what you get from ..
See yourself as the only woman on earth .. You matter most .. Take care of you .

I spend a fair amount of time per day thinking about the people I care about. All other times I'm too busy working, sleeping or having fun !!!!!
