Few years back one of my semis had a glitchy computer that was driving me crazy with little problems and would reset itself but, I just procrastinated on replacing it. A while later the truck blew the engine and I had it towed to a dealer where it sat for a few months while I found the right engine to put into it. I found one, had the tool towed to the place where my mech was going to do the work. When he pulled the old cratered piece out, somebody had stolen the computer!

They're worth about fifteen hundred bucks and take about seven hours to pull out and replace as they're not very easy to get at but, when you change an engine they come with it anyhow.

To this day, I wonder to myself how much time those guys spent taking it out in the dark, how much time they spent putting it into their truck and, how much time they spent trying to figure out what they did wrong in the installation and how much time they spent in a shop at $130 + an hour hooked up to a mainframe trying to get the screwed up computer to calibrate only to discover it was broken!rolling on the floor laughing

And then, wonder if they went out and bought a new or used one. dancing

Whilst living in Turkey my apartment was broken into while I slept, my handbag, with all my credit cards, phone and passport were taken.

That was inconvenient, but what really freaked me out was the though of what could have happened.

Even now if I am alone at night I can't sleep without sleeping tablets.

Years ago, one morning I got into my car, a Chevy Chevette and headed off to work. I got down the road about a mile and read down to turn the radio on. When I couldn't find it, I turned the dome light on and saw the radio was gone with part of the dash broken. I wasn't happy at all

Funny thing, I'm only two buildings away from where this happened 25 years laterlaugh

One night in New Orleans, I had a guy come up to me and ask for the time.
When I pulled my sleeve up to look at my watch, he grabbed my arm and tried to take the watch. I let a knife fall into my other hand that I had up that sleeve and he let go real quick and ran.
I take no chances in strange cities laugh
