Oh I totally know what you mean. In that case, I really think people are saying what they think is correct (i.e., what they think women in the forums would want to hear). I think that honesty is important..but as I have seen in the forums (from personal experience) sometimes honesty can get you a whole lot of negative feedback. A certain degree of presentation is always needed...but yeah..there comes a time where it is so noticably cliche. What can you do?

I think being honest is extremely important ... but alot of times its the way that something is said that can make a world of difference to still get your point across without causing other's to become so defensive and attack back.

As for people saying things that others expect to hear and would like to hear - truly how does this differ in real life? You learn when to speak up and also when it is better to keep your opinion to yourself.

As a great reader I like to believe that the written word is generally honest and truthful. It's much easier to write truths, if they are truths that one is not proud of, than say them, except of course for seasoned liars. For this reason I have tended to believe the profiles people have written but having been on two dates and discovered their profiles were just total fabrications, I am confused and very wary about trusting anybody who is here for online dating. Give me the real world any day, at least you have that immediate contact and can make the decision as to whether you are interested based on, the physical, conversation and body language without the games and unknown involved in online dating. How disappointing it must be to meet online, chat over the telephone, IM etc and finally meet only to find that this person is not who you thought he or she was. What a waste of time!
