I was just wondering the same thing about the "tea lady". I was having this vision of Mrs. Doyle on "Father Ted" hollering, "Tea, Fathers?"

Ahh, that makes sense now. When I worked at a lawyers office we had to ask the occupations of people when they were buying or selling real estate as it was a requirement of the government transfer papers.
Most people had pretty much the usual selections of occupations, but there would be the odd one that you'd come across. One I remember was a "Railway Carman".

and the worst was, when i was a single mum and desperate for work. A farmer offered me work in his sheep tanning factory with the wet skins, after two weeks he paid me with half a sheep. Every day i smelt like a sheep farm, yuk, plus it was very hard work.
