I believe that for some reason people feel compelled to convince everyone possible to agree with their perspective on religion or God. I believe that what others believe doesn't validate or invalidate what we believe. I believe, that said, that the importance of converting people to our point of view is a bit of a mystery.

Yes, I suppose if there isn't any power in your beliefs, then power in numbers is the next best thing.

Dear Lord.. The gods have been good to me. For the first time in my life, everything is absolutely perfect just the way it is. So here's the deal: You freeze everything the way it is, and I won't ask for anything more. If that is OK, please give me absolutely no sign. OK, deal. grin

Seriously? Most people with enough functioning brain cells to allow them to figure out how to turn on a computer know that consuming more calories than one expends leads to the excess energy being converted and stored as fat.

Here's a second grade level link. Let me know if it's over your head and I'll try to find something at a first grade level or lower for you.

No thanks needed. My pleasure entirely. Always glad to help the less fortunate.

Wise words because I think that each of us as to discover for ourselves. I look around and wonder how people can't believe in ANYTHING .. that still puzzles me, but I'm not going to slam dunk them nor do I want them to do that to me.

The problem is not that people want to have religion for themselves.

The problem is that those with religion want others to have it, whether by proselytizing or by enacting laws based on said religion. (And also the lie that not being allowed to dominate and persecute others is somehow domination and persecution of themselves.)

The problem is that those with religion want different standards for themselves and others - they think their own proselytizing is acceptable,

The problem is that those with religion want different labels applied to themselves and others, especially on who is or who isn't one of their own (e.g. people claiming Scott Roeder "isn't a christian terrorist" but the DC sniper is a "muslim terrorist").

Many of the religious understand the concept of mutual respect, but a lot don't get it. To such morons, mutual respect means "I respect my 'god' and you have to, also".

I HAVE ABSOLUTELY no desire to convince anybody on my opinion of A God.

I did once meet a man..I kinda like what he had,he has a peace about him I so wanted.....so I emulated him. I DID THE THINGS HE DID to try to get a bit of what he has.

Still working on it.

True thumbs up trying to convert anyone is a waste of a life.........we all would be happier if we simply live our lives instead of trying to force others to live our lives for us wave

Well, I am one of those people you wonder about. I believe nothing. Maybe it's just the word I object to, who knows? But to me to "believe" if a form of faith without knowledge. I don't believe I'm going to die one day, I know it! There are things I know and things I don't know, for instance, unless the earth suddenly stops spinning I know the sun will rise tomorrow, I may not see it due to clouds but I know it will be there. I don't know if there's a god or even if there ever was a Jesus Christ and since I don't "know" it, I don't believe it. Just because somebody says something is so or it's written in a book or on scrolls doesn't mean I'm going to accept it as fact. Not without proof. People have the ability to lie and have had this ability for 1000's of years especially if lying benifits them in some way ie monetarily or with power.

How's it going Langleygirl?wave
