Ladies and gentleman just the same, being a single father, I would like to know your opinion about how you feel or what you think about dating someone that has a child or for that matter, children. Do you consider them to have "baggage"? Please fill me in.

Children aren't 'baggage', past emotional and financial stuff is baggage.

If you date someone with children, you have to accept that there will be more distractions for the father/mother than if you date a childless person. Thats only common sense.

Emotional responsibilities to the children, possible regular contact with the ex, financial responsibilities to the children..

In other words, you are NOT going to be the Centre of Attention, 24/7.

Anyone who goes into a relationship where a partner has children, especially ones WHO LIVE WITH THEM, should be aware of that, and if they cannot deal with it they should pass.

So, no - I dont like the word "baggage", but yes - there are certain TIES that are unavoidable in these situations.

Evening K

Yes its the BAGGAGE ISSUE again. Kids are at no stage baggage and any prospective [partner that feels that way is NOT a prospective partner at all.

Hope all is well in London... Not going to make Bristol, too much crap over here.

CHILDREN are not BAGGAGE !!!very mad and anyone who consider their child/children as such probably isnt worth being a parent.
Any man/woman who feels dating a person with a child/children is not worth it because they view them as baggage is not worth my time either. doh

Most people have kids...doesn't matter if the kids are 5 years old or 35 years old.they will still be around the parent from time to time, whether it be a man/woman.There will always be family things to deal with...example...who's cooking thanksgiving dinner ,you might want to cook there child might want to cook(you work it out),or child support if the kids are under 18.Its called life and if you can't handle these things you need to find some one thats never had kids, which at our age isn't easy..

Exactly.thumbs up

Thats what I was trying to say in my own post, DF.

"Baggage" is an unfortunately word for it, but the jist is that there will be differences and ties if you are with someone who has children from a previous relationship.

As you said, and I said, if you cant deal with that, dont get involved.
