Although I do not live in the US, this day has affected all of us. I remember the day it happened, I was at work going on my lunch break. Walking down the hall people were surronding a television screen, when I finally pushed my way through to see what the interest was I could not believe my eyes. I cryed for all those people who lost their lives that day, and the families that lost their loved ones.

Do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news of 911??

Towers of Life

They stood hushed and glimmering in the night,
Giants able to frame the moon,
Slumbering magnificently in their might.

Day breaks and the sun gently warms their skin,
Veins begin to pulse with life,
The sprit of a thousand of kin.

Evil tears towards them through the brilliant morning sky,
Propelled by the blackest of hate,
Guided by a lie.

Barely risen they stand with no defense,
Innocent and distracted they are not prepared,
The pain about to be inflicted intense.

Like a bolt of lighting that shatters the morn,
Evil crashes once then twice into their sides,
Their bodies are scorched and torn.

Horribly crippled they continue to stand,
Holding onto life until the last,
Orders are given, they take the command.

The battle is brief, the giants begin to yield,
Life drains from every artery,
Their fate is sealed.

Collapsing to zero,
First to one knee then to the next,
From their dust will emerge so many a hero.

The question is asked,
How can such evil exist.

I can't believe it has been 5 years already.....

My best friend and I were driving on the 401 when a friend of hers called her on her cell. It was a beautiful day but the goosebumps didn't leave me all day...blues

Yes, was a sad day for sure...

However... I do get upset over how because it happneded to the USA we all must remember it to the extreme... Every month there are this many or MORE people killed in wars/terrorist attacks elsewhere, but because that did not happen on USA soil there are no REMEMBERANCES all over TV each year.

Lets QUIETLY bow our heads for those who died in 911 and any other type of war or terrorist attack.

I agree with you. It was a horrible day and a very sad day as well but we also have those who are in Iraq and fighting in wars today who are going through so much. I think everyday should be a day to remember. Not just the 9/11 but everything else that causes death and grief and pain, such as those starving in africa, those with HIV who are dying, those who are dying from cancer, those who die in wars to protect our country and others. For everyday there is something we should take the time to think about. A lot of things that are not talked about today.

My heart goes out to all the victims of the 9/11 and other life tragedies.

Good point...they won't let us forget who controls the world's media. I imagine; if what happened in Rwanda took place, let's say...in Sweden? Im sure the global response would have been quite different. sigh

My coworker's husband's uncle died in his office in the Twin Towers. His 2 daughters also worked there but survived - one was late for work and the other stayed home sick that day.

Hugs and sincere sympathy to the families left behind in this tragedy.

Wow,

5 years have gone by, I remember exactly what i was doing, I was in high school, I know...lol I was listening to the radio in wood working class when it came on...than 2 minutes later there was an assembly in the gym and we all went there, the radio was out onto the sound system and the whole school listened to it, I tried hard not cry but it was soooooooooo sad.

I have one other comment about this, I find it really ahrd getting over this because they are making movies out of it...Like come on...I would like to know if the families are getting money from this movie and if not than I would be upset and pissed...and the last is how can we forget what happened, we are reminded everyday when we turn the TV on. Thnak you for listening to me.

I think the only ones making money on it is hollywood actualy.
Hi, first of all I want to thank everyone who expressed
their thoughts for my nation and people. I also want to
thank those of you to the north who housed and cared for my
fellow americans stranded up there in the after math...particualrly
in NL and NS, the kindness and hospitality will never be forgotten
and can naver be repayed in propper measure.
I would also like to say that this was indeed an international
tragedy, 27 countries lost people on that day....including canada
who lost 24 people...my sympathies to thos families.
This is indeed an international problem. The ideals that begat
that day are borderless and I fear its a matter of time before another
nation has its own "9/11"
