....are effecting me too much these days. Here goes....

bought a laptop and want to do all sorts of things needing the "at" symbol for emails etc. It,s there on the keyboard but just cant access it.Driving me nuts.Normally its accessed via alt shift or alt ctrl....not this blighter. In fact can,t access any of the upper right symbols on the row of keys just below the row of "f" keys.

Can,t ask the shop where I bought it as its closed for hols.Only manual is the one emailed to my email address and can,t access my email account.Cant ask for any on line solution, either tech support or friends as...you guessed it can,t type email addresses...HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPP

hi

could it be 'Alt Gr' .. a single key next to the spacebar?

you could also copy and paste the symbols - if it's an emergency - til the shop opens

You might need to make sure the keyboard is in Spanish...not the actual keyboard but the language of it. The @ will then be the Alt Gr and the number 2 key.

I hope I am expanding and not hijacking this thread, but I too have a question .. I use IE8 and often it freezes - 'IE8 not responding' and white screening .. I think a way to cure this would be to update to a Chrome or Firefox browser. However, I have a lot of forgotten passwords 'remembered' by IE8. would they be lost if I changed browsers? And would changing browsers cure the initial problem of non-responding and white screening anyway?

Try to follow this link and it should right the wrongs....

As for lost passwords...Try download and installing 'CAIN&ABLE'<--might come up as a virus (don't worry it isn't...it's a handy set of tools and other things)...

When it's installed click IE PASSWORDS..then the BLUE cross at the top of the screen..And it MAY give you the passwords..

I never use IE, only Firefox. Far more stable in my opinion.

Firefox will allow you to import Bookmarks, history and passwords from IE. This option is under FILE (on the browser) and then IMPORT.

I should add though, don't delete the IE8...just use it if in need of a password that doesn't come over to Firefox.
