I'm not exactly a collector, and I haven't bought anything in some time, but I do have a stack from days gone by packed up in a box somewhere.

I only have one serious 'run', that being of Spawn, something like issues #1-98 or something.

I believe I have the entire 12 issue run of Ghost in the Shell, and I honestly couldn't say for sure without looking, but I think I added 'Man-Machine Interface', a 12 issue sequel series to that as well. It's been a while! laugh

I have a few one-offs as well, that I bought just because I liked the creator/style, to use as decor in my game room, things like: Fathom #1, Aphrodite IX #1, Spider-Man #1 (The MacFarlane cover issue, not the older 'Amazing Spiderman'), and whichever that really stylish #1 issue is of the Dark Phoenix Saga, or whatever, with Phoenix in the burgundy and gold, with flames, against the black backset?

blah blah nerd

I used to read Conan, Dr.Strange, X-Men, Silver Surfer, Spider Man...when I was 12. Then I discovered that with literature I could make up the pictures in my head and invent all sorts of surroundings and environments...I was hookedwine

As an artist myself, I enjoyed the visual aspect quite a bit.

Rather than find it limiting, I appreciated the uniqueness of each style.

Literature is pleasant in it's own special way. hug

Used to go to the barber shop up the street from where we lived in Portsmouth NH Years ago just to read the comics he had in there. Every now and then he would send a few of us to the store to buy new ones.

I hadn't read comics in quite a while and then when they came out with the issues leading up to Superman's death and afterwards till they brought him back I had to grin
I recently bought the Superman/Doomsday movie. There were a few differences

I understand that.
John Buscema
Alfredo Alcala
John Romita... The drawings used to be cool and artsy. Nowadays, it's all computer-aided and not very attractive as far as art goes.
But we age and become disinterested...

I'd rather stick with and re-read classics: Tintin, Asterix, Maus and Elfquest. Those four are the progenitors of the "graphic novel", amongst which are stories like "Batman, the Dark Knight" and "V For Vendetta".

The creators of Elfquest scanned their comics and put them online for people to read freely:
