watch the video on youtube and see which way a dancer is turning .. if she turns left you are using the analytical side of your brain and if she turns right you are using your creative artistic side ..

does the test make sense for you? do you consider yourself more analytical than artistic - or vice versa - and does the dancer turn in the direction suggested?

I saw her turning to the right until I tried multiplying a number in my head .. at which point she changed direction

dancing

interesting .. I've watched the vid a couple of times and the first time she turned to the right too .. but the second time I managed to make her turn left by doing some maths in my head while watching ... also if i watch her out the side of my eye she turns left too

that's interesting .. most people see her turn one or the other but she can turn the other way if you do maths, for example. I know cos I saw her turn when I did some simple sums

did you keep your eyes fixed on the same place? for me, she also turns in opposite directions depending on which part of my eye I view her from.

are you quite analytically minded?

How boring, I thought you were going to tell me something I didn't know! grin

On a serious note (yes, I can be), I'm right-brained. No matter how much I tried she would not spin the other way.

I get told off for analysing too much, but I noticed dancer went to the right when the voice over mentioned friendship, even if previously left, and switched with 2-3 of the pictures.I think both side of my brain work fairly evenly.

Ok, so, turnning counter-clockwise would mean analytical and numbers, and clockwise would mean intuitive and abstract...

For the love of god, I could only make it turn counter-clockwise by sliding the image-controller backward roll eyes

Does it mean that maybe I've made the wrong career choice as a Maths and Computer sciences teacher ? doh

umm maybe but I wouldn't worry because if ..

- the disruptive students
- the lack of pedagogic support
- the diminishing social respect for the teaching profession
- the constant parental demands from self-confessed unqualified experts in your field
- the relatively low wage and almost zero benefits
- the never ending amount of unpaid hours spent outside class in marking and lesson prep
- the endless stream of pointless meetings and all the totally senseless bureaucratic demands

.. haven't dismayed you,

the dancing girl turning the wrong way might not be too problematic either .. wouldn't you say? cheers

actually it seems the dancer turns clockwise for everybody and some people, maybe after a few tries, can also see her turn counter clockwise ..

I think that when a person's brain is distracted by a task in whatever way, the dancer can turn counter clockwise, irrespective of the task in question - which suggests the test doesn't really show what it's designed to show - whether you are a left or right brained dominated person - but that's just a hunch ... dunno
