After WW2 in the UK young men were mostly compulsorily conscripted to boot camp. This was in the 1950s. There was a tv programme where they took some young louts, and sent them back in time to an old army camp with some miliary 'old school and tough' commanders. This was televised. These lads had been in trouble before. After a few weeks on this boot camp they came out changed characters - at least those who didn't do a runner before the end. It made good tv too. We have a huge problem here in the UK with young men in their late teens and 20s behaving like animals - actually worse than animals, and they need a short sharp shock.

But the rats in Washington will not let their sons or daughters fight in the front because the are protected. Meanwhile our military citizens are killed fighting phoney wars. What hypocrisy!

Those are interesting thoughts. In what context do you mean "phony" war? You do seem to acknowledge that there are people getting shot and killed, which would seem to be well within accepted context of "war" so what makes you think it's not real?
Your statement "But the rats in Washington will not let their sons or daughters fight in the front because the are protected." didn't ring true and a quick google search revealed an article that contradicts it.
Of course, I'm assuming that you were generalizing all politicians as "rats", which means that any one of them having a child that has served or is serving in combat would prove your remark to be false. If you are speaking only of specfic unnamed "rats" in Washington, the details of this specificity would help establish the veracity of your statement.
And, if, of course, you were just posting glib hyperbole, then just acknowledge it as such and scrutiny wouldn't be in order.

Why are we in Germany, Italy, England, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, etc....? Are they a threat now that needs "control"?
I think you have a massively simplistic view of the military's role for the US solider. I will not, like many, will pretend they are holy rolers and are used for freedom, justice...etc. However, sometimes they are, nor conversly will I say they are out for murder, and again, sometimes they are.
You have obviously never served or have been in contact with those who have served in a small portion of time that have no grasp on history in it's entirety. The military serves a number of roles, defense, border control and illegal activities (cartels), environmental research, geographic research, space research, defensive and hostile engagements, reconnaissance, anti terrorism, medical research, oceanography, security and nameless more, I can easily make a list as long several times and not repeat myself, but I believe my point is made.
You explain one method in which they can and have been used, but to say that is their only use is simplistic at best. They have the capacity to be used for horrific deeds and great deeds alike and in our history have been used for both. Do what we should as thinking human beings and hold accountable those who use the military for the wrong reasons and praise those who use them for the good.
