Hello, I will be traveling to Ireland and Scotland in a couple of weeks. Do you have any suggestions of places I must see and/or can't afford to miss? Thanks.

Other musts in Ireland - The cliffs of Moher, County Clare.

Not to be missed - Take a look at all the places on the left of this page -

I've been to all those mentioned. The boat trip on the 5 Killarny Lakes at the Gap of Dunloe and the Blaskets Islands off the Dingle peninsular are well worth a visit and I can say Southern Ireland is a beautiful country and in particular the whole of the West Coast

Enjoy the Guinness and ask the West coast locals around parts of the West Coast like Connemara about, and try *Poteen* *Potcheen* (Poitín)( 3 ways ofd spelling it, if you get a chance :-)
It's 60-95% Alcohol - Like Nitro (Dope) that we used on sprint bikes when I modified three Excelsior Talisman twins with 14:1 compression ratio's in the early 60's :-)

It's like bloody rocket fuel and you could almost run a Lightning on the stuff :-)

Have a nice trip

Lots of good suggestions there....it's difficult to advice, as both Scotland and Ireland are so beautiful!!

If you fancy really getting away from it all in Scotland, then I would say, head over to Oban (a beautiful place) and then head north, staying as close to the West coast as possible. The further north you go, the more remote and stunningly beautiful it gets!! If you want any more details on this area, just mail me.

The weather is very mixed in Central Scotland just now, but we have had quite a bit of sunshine this past week. It has turned colder these past few days though...it's now about 13 degrees during the day.

Have fun!! teddybear wave

Scotland.

I like Glencoe. Skye is a must if you go to the West side but I heard Mull is just as attractive and good for walking.

Up at Inverness go east for the Baxters Soup factory, or do this at the end of the Whisky trail to water down the alcohol! :)

Callander is nice for tea and cake and Pitlochry for the salmon run.

Ireland.
Antrim Coast is stunning. Giants Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede. (Check out my photo)
Ulster American Museum if you are tracking down relations who left to go to USA. They have a list of family names there.

:)

Red 3 - Crystal
FWIW - You need not have any fear -

1. Aircraft are statistically safer than a ship or boat.
2. Amphibious aircraft and seaplane accidents are almost non-existant by comparison with how many hours they fly per year and
3. Landings in a seaplane are such that the one operating on Loch Lomond is as safe, if not safer than travelling on any hovercraft or WIG ( Wing in Ground) effect vehicle (Ekranoplan to you)when it operates or even when a glider comes to a standstill.
Book up and go - You will love it.

Ireland: Giants Causeway near Portrush plus also the bouncy wooden bridge a few miles to the east that links a small island to the mainland and was used my salmon fishermen.

Blarney Castle near Cork.

Newgrange near the Boyne Battlefield.

Scotland: Edingburgh castle / Arthurs Seat / city centre

Forth Bridge

Golf courses - loads of great ones - St Andrews, Troon, Gleneagles etc. Ireland has many great ones too.

The Highlands - for walking and scenery and isolation

West Coast and isles - for scenery

Glasgow Rangers v Celtic football match

Loads of pubs for good food and beer in Scotland and Ireland

The people. In general, I like the Irish and the Scottish.
