looks like mattie mcgrath and noel grealish are getting shaky in their support of the government. its a sign the government are nervous when they were going to keep mary coughlan at home for her vote. think this government and its unelected Taoiseach may soon fall.

I think Cowen has threatened his party with a General Election if they don't support him! But it's absolutely mad that they are taking more flack from inside FF than they are from FG who are also on self destruct!

But, let's be honest, with the state we're in, you'd wan't to have a death wish to take Cowen's job just now. I can see the next general election being like Eurosong in Father Ted. The party whips will be falling over themselves to scupper their chances.laugh

They might be the least of Biffo's problems after the Jay Leno show piss take of him. He might be forced out if more of this type of thing is in the media.

I don't rate Cowen as a leader and never have but I think what Leno did was a bit unfair. To find an old pic and then publicly humiliate another human being on national tv for no reason has to be wrong.

Maybe if we hadn't had the drunken/hungover interview, we wouldn't even have noticed this. I've never actually watched Jay Leno so I wouldn't know.conversing

Pinochet did a lot of good for Chile economically, he's probably the only dictator that acutually left a country in a far better state economically when he resigned than before he became leader. Saying that his human rights abuses were appalling, If Ireland had a dictator we'd be kicked out of the EU, saying that I'd like to see an EU/IMF colaition in Ireland to put manners on us spendthrift paddieslaugh laugh

McGrath and Grealish are selfish parish pump politicians looking to save their own seats and putting local interests ahead of the nation.

Agreed. The problem with multi-seat constituencies is that they're competing with their own party as much as with the other parties.
