Miserable experience but as long as your ok!! I was also in Cork at the time! The neighbours across the road were lovely to me and helped me out as I burst into tears grin but in my shock I never knew which house and always regretted not saying or sending a thank you card

claim from their insurance, whiplash/back injuries, You could get 10-15,000 euro in a few years and If you dont accept you could get double that

Didnt cry but all shook up.

I am sure those people understood and knew you were grateful anyway. You were in too much shock to remember details

ah thanks but do be careful shock can do some horrible things and can likely rear its ugly head a few days later! I found myself nervous driving after even though I had been driving for years but I couldn't help but be nervous of other drivers, thankfully thats over now

LadyBlackAdder: Not really into suing anyone. Wont know if I have whiplash for a few days I think. The other driver has already arranged for me to have my damage assessed tomorrow morning. Door of the boot and the back bumper are dented and buckled. Her car looked very bad. The radiator had leaked all over the road.

What happens if I do get whiplash? I already have a problem with my neck

ah its coming back to me yes whiplash arrived a few days after but make sure you get it looked at if you have pervious problems this could create more damage so its really worth your while to look at, whiplash is uncomfortable and painful but for me only lasted a few days and never occured again but it can cause problems for many so being treated quickly is my best answer

I would not have a problem suing anyone if necessary especially if there is uneccessary cost incurred & hopefully not in your case ill health as a result, Primulla point was suggestive rather then fact. I am a firm beliver that god forbid I caused damage resulting in ill health on anyone I would encourage them to sue away that is the whole point in paying insurance, I just find it frustrating when others sue for the sake of it (and really believe it never does ya any good!!)

LadyBlackAdder: Thank JLM.

The other girl was so nice. Shaken aswell but much calmer than me. Couldnt be thinking of suing her. Whats the use of that?

Hope all is OK! We all get our wee bumps and bangs from time to time. Just all part of the joys of motoring!teddybear

I wouldnt put myself through the bother of suing if I didnt need to. I will watch myself carefully and take a visit to the doctor and/or physiotherapist if necessary. Hopefully, I will have no ill effects. Even the shock seems to be wearing off now but I will have to see how I feel when I get behind the wheel again. I can imagine getting a bit nervous about it.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes teddybear

Sorry to hear that M , For what its worth, one thing you should do is inform your own insurance. I know that this might come against you as the insurers will more than likely raise your premium , no matter whose fault it is, but it is probably better in the long run . The person who ran into you may be as nice a pie now but when it comes to hading over readies or losing no claims bonus the tune might change. Dont rely on what her assessor says get your own insurance assessor to look at it as well .

There's no defence against a rear end shunt. There should be a safe enough distance to stop should something go wrong. You have no worries on that count M.conversing
