A wealthy Texan builder visits London and as part of his vacation takes a guided tour down the Thames.

“And on the left, just behind the Houses Of Parliament, you can see Westminster Abbey”

“West – minster Abbey? Hollers the Texan, “How long’d that take to build?”

“I believe it was constructed over 600 years sir” replies the guide.

“600 years!” exclaims the Texan builder “600 years? Boy we’d have put that up in Texas in 6 weeks

They pass the Tower of London and the guide gives a brief history…

“Boy! Boy!” yells the Texan “How long’d they take to build that then?”

“Well sir, it was built and rebuilt several times but I believe the last bits took about 60 years.”

“It sure is a mighty good building” agrees the Texan “All that fine dressed stone that sort of quality would take at least 6 months, in Texas…”

They pass Canary Wharf – which the Texan insists would have taken no more than 4 months to construct and been twice as tall..

They go down to the Thames barrier – a 6 week project according to the Texan.

Finally the boat turns they pass the O2 on their left and alight at Greenwich Pier.

“Boy! Boy!”hollers the Texan… “what was that?”

“What Sir?”

“That big tent thang with the O2 signs?”

The tour guide gives a puzzled look…. “I really can’t say Sir, it wasn’t there this morning”.
