Why join a dating site and then not date? (19)

I know and understand some people just want to increase their social circle, but what about those of us who are sick of the single treadmill. (This should start a good debate and I do love a good debate) 
I think most people have already read my reasons for being here..in brief~bad experiences after two years beinf active i.e dating. I am no longer interested in dating but i enjoy the forum. it is a way of interecting with other members, its fun, interesting, entertaining and free. Yes i am fed up of being single but i have decided no more 'blind dates for me'
I hasten to add that these are my expeiences and do not wish to give the impression that everyone else will find the same.. i hope not anyway.. wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy

I've had bad experiences too, but a different sort of bad! Oh I won't mope about it again. Boo hoo though.
Well you said yourself that there are those who join up for friendship and others who are after a date; I fall inbetween those two lol.
It doesn't help that a lot of the people you like or fancy seem to live miles away!!

Aw come on i joined a pool club but i didnt get wet, then i joined the dart team, i walked. Tried aerobics, not a plane in sight, joined the sqush club, loads of room. Some times things arent exactly what they say on the tin, just play the game and hey who knows you might get enrolled into the pancake tossing club....

Not too bad at all my friend, just getting ready for year two at Uni, loads of that Philosophy again. Still, cant let you have all the fun with the girls now can we, so thought would get back on line.

A little while ago I met a surgeon , a very educated lady , from a very good background .. We sat at a coffee shop and the first thing she asked me was that how much was my annual income .. I guess there are a good number of girls whom have substituted Bingo and Lottery with single's sites . They may hit the jackpot and that would be it . As it is evident from the forums ,.only a handful of us are brave enough to show ourselves . I have enjoyed it and will be around for a while .
I have benefited from being on matrimonial and single's sites . It has helped me to become confident and now I chat up anyone anywhere . I think I have a fear of getting involved and that has kept me away from going beyond simple socialising .

I have a real life thank you very much Yami, all I am doing is trying to start debate. Debate is good, its one of the ways of getting to know people.
