I was reading in the Sunday Times not so long ago that there is a major increase in much younger girls reaching puberty/starting periods at a very young age as low as 6 and 7, they contrasted this with the stats from the 1900's when apparently women generally started menstration later at 17+ and even as late as 21 year of age .
