If europe decide to throw us out of the eurozone we would be in serious trouble, I think I would be optimistic in saying we would have a punt worth 10 cents on exchange rate, all our savings would be decimated and we would become a third world country overnight.

What's more likely is that Germany will go back to the Deutch Mark and France will go back to the Franc leaving the poorer ecconomies to fight it out amongst them.conversing

Regarding Iceland about 40% of households can't afford to pay their mortgages. At the moment the ECB are keeping the Irish banks afloat to the tune of over €100 billion in loans. I somewhat doubt it if the Irish Central Bank had such cash reserves at its disposal.

Classic, then again I can imagine the Tory papers like the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail having a field day regarding ourselves. I can imagine all the jokes there coming out with about us "paddies".

The same cartoonist has ripped into everyone over the years, I don't take any offence with Paddie jokes tbh, there are and will be hard hitting jokes always and taking offence only serves to make us look foolish.

Agreed, then again a lot of Irish people get far too easily offended when the Engliash media start slagging off Ireland.

Yeah i know, shows a lack of confidence, bet there will not be a call to remove it like there was the painting of Cowen on the loo, though I have it on good authority that the complaint came from a high ranking Civil Servant that was brown-nosing! laugh
