Would you "protect" (lie for?) a family member or one of your children even if you knew without a doubt they had committed a crime?

Lie by omission, or make a false statement??

Oh, I don't know, the question is too open and too theoretical for me to answer.

I could say right here, that I'd never lie for anyone, but who knows what I'd do, if I was actually in such a situation... dunno

I wouldn't. If one of my two sons did something illegal, they will be the ones paying

Is a crime not a crime?...

So I take it that if it were a petty crime one would protect their loved ones...

Does that not translate to them that it is "okay" to commit petty crimes?

No need to protect them for a petty crime.

It's when the crime is so big that it threatens their life prospects that one is compelled to assume responsibility as their parent.

It honestly would depend on the crime and circumstances revolving around it.

As a parent I take alot of responsibility for my children and/or their behaviours...and that includes teaching them right from wrong...

If I assume responsibility for their crime...am I really parenting?

If it was one of my girls, I suppose it would depend on the seriousness of the crime.

Then again, I've always believed "if you can't do the time, don't do the crime".
