You've known this person for a long time. You've both discussed marriage and you both know it will happen. He's not formally asked you. Is it ok for YOU to ask HIM? How would you ask HIM? What if you don't see him a lot due to work situations and it makes it almost impossible to talk to him in person?

Men, how would you feel if SHE took the initiative and asked you, because you're just too dang slow? How do YOU want to be asked, if it's acceptable to you?

As for me, if we were going out for any long period of time and were sure how we both felt about each other, I would be very humbled with her asking, But is it not only in a Leap year that the Woman proposes Marraige..............

I do feel that it would not be without some problems due to wrok commitments as you have mentioned, but if it is not an issue now everything should work out Fantastic...............

Okay the Answer is Yes........ I will marry You Blanca:

If a man wants to get married, he'll let you know. I don't want to be asked. Why put him in a spot?

Nipper, wouldn't you be even a little bit flattered if a woman asked you to marry her? It doesn't mean you have to say yes.

If a woman asks you to marry her, she'll be hurt when you decline. I believe that would be the end of the relationship.

You could make a little joke with it and see what happens.

Say something like; Hi hun, ready to go get hitched?

or leave little things around the house that has some thing to do with marriage. wink

Oh yeah, I agree. But usually when a man asks, the womans' been waiting for sometime to hear the question.

An assumption, and one that could be presented both ways, one you would hope only being asking such a question if they where pretty sure of the reply......

I'll remember this if needed starlite. Been a while between marriage proposals.

And Nipper I agree. In my job I meet 50 to 100 men a day. I am so uncomfortable with turning a man down that I wear a wedding ring to work.

As for me, like said before, a long relationship, etc. I think that we would be open enough to communicate well, and I think I would rather have her go about it something like; "hon, remember when we talked about getting married? When would like getting married, during the summer?,etc. Something more like a discussion leading up to it. I would love it if she asked, I just wouldn't want to feel pressured, on the spot, etc. I also agree that if he says he's not ready, you could be hurt, end of that, etc. So I would hope she gave me assurance that it was ok to tell her exactly how I felt without having to worry about her being crushed, or the relationship ending, etc. Good luck! kevin
