I have a friend who spends the whole year doing her Christmas Shopping.
She has a bag for each friend/family member ... and fills it, slowly, with small little items she finds when and where she happens to be browsing .... Everything is small, usually quite inexpensive, but thoughtful .... things she thinks that person would appreciate.
For instance ..... one person always gets scented candle (for a stress-free bath) .... bath essence (to help the stress).... body lotion (for after stress).....small bottle of wine (to de-stress).....sachet of hair conditioner (for stress-free hair)......emery board for nails (to while away the stress).......
So ....... how do you plan/buy what each person gets?

Actually, in no way. I don’t buy, or prepare, any Christmas gifts.
Before, in my previous live, I made New Year gifts for family and close friends. (I can sew, knit, make easy kinds of bijouterie.) But this Chrismas-gifts-hysteria has discouraged me some years ago, and I don’t do anything for Christmas.
Planned to go south for this one, but sharks and all that…

The whole family we have agreed on not buying presents at all, just getting together for a late dinner and have some drinks and or table wine, some dancing perhaps, just fun.

I will try that Thanks!
What I do is: Warm the red wine over low heat Pour 1/2 orange juice Drop a thin slice of the orange with peel A bit of honey Serve in a high glass with some ground Cinnamon on it. (real cinnamon ground at my ex-mother-in-law place, she still does it for me)
Two of those and to sleep as an angel I go. (quasi an angel )

Thank you, sounds great and different, I sure will try it.
You better make sure you do not drink it early afternoon!

Oh, yes, almonds and raisins, beverage’s called Glögg, usually a dreadful drink, but the other day there’s a neighbour gathering at one of the neighbour’s and the hostess served it, an alcohol-free variation, and I’ve been surprised – it cán taste good after all.
Note to self: Ask how to prepare it!
But the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly – and thát’s most important thing during any circumstances if you ask me… Have experienced more than once that people look like they enjoy themselves without feeling it. There’s a kind of demand hanging in the air: “Sure, we’ve having fun, aren’t we?” and that enforced “delight” instantly kills all live in me. But our hostess was really great: no demands, no expectations – 2 wonderful hours of gossip and chit-chat. Don’t even remember the previous time when I felt as good as then.

Here is a much better description for another (orangie) Mulled wine recipe. 1•Pour the wine into a nonreactive saucepan and place over low heat.
•2 Cut the zest off half an orange with a sharp paring knife or vegetable peeler so that only the orange part is removed. If some of the bitter white pith is still attached to the zest, cut it off and discard it.
•3 Lightly pound the pieces of zest with the back of a knife or a mallet to release the aromatic oils. Add the zest to the wine. Squeeze some juice in, too.
•4 Add the remaining ingredients.
•5 Stir occasionally. Do not let the wine come to a boil.
•6 When the wine begins to steam and is very hot, it is ready to serve. (a bit of honey is potional it will depend on the wine sweeteness)
•7 Shut off the heat and ladle the wine out into glasses, leaving the seasonings behind.

Sorry for my mistake.
