Reality TV...another oxymoron.
It's filmed with the participants' knowledge. How, then, can it be "reality" TV?
My opinion is that most reality TV shows are like most TV commercials; they're insulting to the average viewer's intelligence.

Agree 100%. I love the disclaimers they display:

Or the other one that I LOVE....which trail spontanious shows like Cash Cab, state that some contestant have been prescreened?
what the heck does that mean? how do you prescreen and/or prequalify someone who is depicted as spontaniously presented with the format....
ie cash cab...(lights a flashin...oh my i am so surprised...what is this funky cab all about? oh my this is a game show? wow I am surprised...after being prescreened...)

I personnaly do not approve of them because they are NOT "reality" at all. It reminds me of an old Arnold Schwartzenegger movie called "The Running Man" and if this current trend continues it is only going to get worse.

a show that runs 7 years is up for syndication......imagine a dozen channels devoted to all the scripted "reality" shows.

I have actually watched a few of these...Amazing race...i watched because i thought some of the things they made them do was funny as all get out (like watching a big tough guy trying to drive a bus through a traffic cone maze without hitting a cone)
a watched Rock Star because I love music
I watched Survivor a few times, but i really didnt care for it.
my mom and dad are addicted to big Brother, i cant figure out why.
I had not watched tv for MANY years and this was the type of show that was on when i decided i had time to watch the tele again
now its pretty much background noise...and its usually on court tv...
id rather be online or doing something else

Watched big brother the first episode I liked that one as for the rest I think we are getting overloaded on reality tv BUT I love Kiss so I do wath Gene Simmons Family Jewels its a riot!!

Then there are all the fear factor, survivor, amazing race reality formats that are not directly formated around relationships
