I was watching a film over Christmas and the expression "in God we trust" was referred to. This being the American National motto and spoken in the National Anthem,I was wondering how many other countries have motto's,and what they actually mean to you as a native of said country.
The British Royal coat of arms bears the words "Dieu et mon Droit" which translates as "God and my Right" and the Order of the Garter "Honi soit qui mal y pense" translated as "Evil to him who evil thinks".
In this day and age do you think these are appropriate as they all have religious connotations.
I am interested in knowing about other country's too!
