It is quite a remarkable effort that the CS has managed to attract so many people from so many different countries all over the world. And, in keeping with this noble effort, we also have tried our best to connect and relate ourselves to each other in common terms. we enquire about each other here, we argue and debate with each other...all of course in good faith and good intention. Now, i also understand that NOT everybody here is comfortable always with the rest of us in exchanging his/her views due to their pre-concieved prejudice or misconception(which is to be expected because we all are different). And this is exactly where, my curious mind like to know how much have we really learned about the world and its citizens? How much have we learnt that, we think, are facts, and how much of them are fiction/myth? How far have we actually gone and tried to seperate the facts from fiction and to get rid of our ill-concieved misconception? Are we really happy with our views and opinions about our other fellow human beings who are different from us in so many aspects? To conclude, i always tell myself that i am not ashamed of the fact that i don't know about things, but i certainly seem to have a problem if i don't have the least inclination or desire to learn.
I have learned that it can be real difficult for some folks from different countries to participate in the forums because they are not clued up properly in the English language,i admire them for that, there is good and bad from all countries..even my country
mnowsa: i am sorry but i don't quite understand your question? are you suggesting that CS is actually teaching us not to like people of certain relgion/race?
NO,our social life around us teaches that and my question was if CS helped a bit to change this.

mnowsa: And i also believe that the CS deserves a huge 'thank you' for making some positive changes
CS has not changed me, I don't think, but I find it very interesting to participate, even though, sometimes, there are conflicts on CS, and we have some politics rammed down our throats. But this is all part of the rich life on CS

i find it interesting too tom and i also think that a bit negativity, arguably, could expand our horizon of knowledge and outlook. And i don't really like to believe that anything is rammed down our throats because we can be our own judges. then again, these are just my opinion and i could be wrong...

I don't have a problem conversing on C.S. with people from other countries.
I think that IF there are any problems, they are more of a cultural misunderstanding,as it would be impossible for all the members on the site to be totally aware of how others conduct their lives within their own culture.
Any problems on site are usually due to differences of opinion, which will always happen. We just have to learn tolerance, and accptance.

thank you BB. i completely agree with u on difference of opinion, acceptance and tolerance. But my question is how far are we really willing to go learn a bit more each other if we are to believe that we don't know enough about each other

For me that would be a task too far!
Imagine having to learn about every culture in the World to be able to have a greater understanding of each other.
I learn by degrees when responding or being replied to by members here in the Forums. Some I like extremely well, others I avoid, and vice versa I've no doubt.
This is what makes the Forums so interesting, as we all learn by degrees from each other if we choose to.
monte12: Mnowsa my darling I have not change a bit, I think it will take more than CS to change me. But I do learn to respect others opinions..
kool! it is just i like to believe that i don't know many things about this world and its inhabitats, and i would just love to know about them more within my capacity
