Another "illegal" school was investigated by two reporters of Radio-Canada(french CBC).

Apparently the said school had been investigated during the years2002-2004 if I remember correctly. In late 2004 the school was said to have been closed and dust gathered on the investigation file...

It did not take long for the reporters to capture into their lens the fact that their is very well an illegal school still being run on those premises. One parent not shy from the camera even commented on her reasons for choosing this school. The school has apperently some 50 students.

Another school was recently in the news and the parents of some 143 students were apperently given permission (as opposed to continuing the school I think)to continue with their educational program by *home schooling* as long as they come up with a program in october meeting their criterias...but that I ain't too sure...this one I only heard of very little.

The illigal school spoken of today is run by a religious group and cannot comment much on it as little was said to their beliefs other then the fact of *someone* can't remember who- being the reicarnation of the holy spirit...

Now if they're not doing anything wrong then why were they all running away from the camera? From the comment of the parent seen on camera...she felt this was a safer option for her children...

Whether it be for a political reason or religion or whatever else...what program do you wish for your children? And does something like this scare you? And does shootings in school like we have seen in the news lately make you feel you should home-school your children instead?

I did think of home schooling my daughter. We have a young man living a short distance away that is home schooled. He has no friends.

I decided to keep her in school but become more involved with the school so that she will have the social interaction she would not get staying at home.

Yes!

Absolutely! We have to be involved ourselves if we want our children's education to be succesful. By encouraging them they will grow in confidence even through the hardships.

him not having friends is a parents choice though. there are MANY MANY home school get-togethers and SOOOOOO much support if you just look...like open a phone book!! how simple is that!

home school is a wonderful choice as long as the parents stick to it, do it for the right reasons and truly interact in all facets of what home schooling entails.

I homeschooled my boys from the third grade on. One decided to go back to public school this year and is getting straight A's.
There are other ways for the kids to have friends. 4-H is good.

yes...

and sometimes parents don't realize how resourceful they can be in the education of their children. I have met a mother who has home taught all her children and she has a high school diploma...

Why need a degree from a recognized university? Beside she did get her diploma and has been through it once herself...

Actually, it depends on where you live. Here, first you have to fight to get your kid out of the public school, especially when the school gets such lousy scores and they want to use your over achiever to make things look better. Then, if there are next to no other kids being homeschooled, no events, and no kids living within a mile, no kids to even play with.
Mine was homeschooled until 6th grade. When she was tested, she already had scores that were good enough to graduate high school in some areas. She does mainly go for the social interaction. BUT, this momma bear has made it WELL known to the entire staff that I won't be putting up with any BS. Whether it is a scholastic, social, or safety issue, parents need to stay on top of things, PERIOD.

I also heard a bit more about it and the name of the organization that runs the illegal school is " la mission du saint-esprit" and which can be translated to the "holy-spirit mission?"

And apperently one of theirs is the reincarnation of the holy-spirit...but I may have misunderstood - Nowadays you just never know.

Also how is it that those children went unoticed to the School Ministery? Every student/child in Quebec has a code that follows them through out their life as per what one retired worker from the ministry said...and the law requires everychild to attend school if not educated otherwise. He pointed out the obvious once again that we have all the tools but yet we've failed.

The said school who supposedly had closed...well let me ask who followed the students to make sure their education was being continued accordingly? And why is it that we accept so easily to let a child quit school?(I know...not easy one here either...). Is it the same students that are still attending that same school?

Now another question that was raised during that interview is that if the education system do anything? Who can jump in? Another failed system you may think - child services... nope no child services in sight.

Now don't shoot at me...just throwing in some of my thoughts with some that I've heard on TV.

One more thing is that all parents dropping off their kids at the school were women and the teacher or principal who opened the door was a man to let them in. I'm just wondering where the father's are.
The priest who was on camera had an uncomfortable but trying to look not scared look on his lips and refused to answer any questions. hmmm...just trying to give a view on the settings here.

Of course they disappeared. That's the whole concept behind something clandestine. If it gets discovered, they will change, adapt, and/or 'disappear' - that's what they do best.

I agree with you! but isn't weird that they didn't follow up just to make sure the school had very well closed?

My sister home schooled her 2 children until they where 12 at which time she placed them in a public school setting. Her kids where shortly afterward consider to be hyperative and medication was suggested.... truth was those teachers of "tenure" where unable to challenge these 2 students.
I believe long long ago schools security systems where lacking. politicians speak of protecting the children, they are the worlds future. What a bunch of political double talk...they only throw money at it. The only cure they have developed thru-out the years and years of attempts to solve the education and safety of the children is more money. Home schooled children are smarter have better habits that will carry throughout their life. Its so obvious the difference.... teachers that show-up for a paycheck and those that love their students of these 2 teaching systems which will produce more education of the student?? A no brainer eh? yet we will never be rid of those who came only for a paycheck. What ever happened to accountability? protection and securityapplies only to a teachers, when was the last time one with tenure has been dismissed discharged? Yeah Speak of safety and "illegal schools" sorta makes ya wonder if indeed those schools and education programs that the governments protect and accept is really for the childs benefit or someone who just wants a check every week.....

Not really, I think it fits perfectly. If the school is truely clandestine, they will insta-migrate and re-form elsewhere. Anticipate, then react. It's like an elaborate chess match, for lack of a better comparison.

Since this time it was brought to public attention they have vanished.

It's clandestine because they are not under the educational hmmm ministers...

And I've only seen it on tv and actually haven't heard anything in past few days .The school was run by "La mission du Saint-Esprit".

Anybody has any news on this?
