Most of us who post on the UK forum are people of a certain age lol....and today I got to thinking of when I used to go to the jiggin' (usually Tiffanys, Shuffles or the White Elephant on Sauchiehall St) for a bit of a boogie on a saturday night, wearing platforms so high they almost had my head hitting the mirror ball above the lighted dance floor lol...oh and what did ye drink?...usually it was a few moscow mules, black russians, a wee midori here and there if I was flush, and occasionally some blue bols (nothing to do with male rangers fans Mr Uptall before you even go there) 'n' lemonade for me lol....where was your local dancing and what were your fave disco sounds, memories and drinks from way back when?? Oh and feel free to post any photos of you in 70s gear!! applause wave

I'll start...how about this?

My God girls you did not know ye were born!
In the 70'
I walked 2 miles to a dance hall the Harriers Club on a Sat night dancing to live bands. Thin Lizzy one of them. In white platform boots, pvc I am sure mini skirt more like a belt that you never left home in, well did but under a longer skirt so could get out of the house respectable.
Sweated dancing and walked home the 2miles in the freezing cold legs purple. Drinks, ah now then, all we could get was orange, lemonade, or coca cola. Not much of a choice. By God those were the days! Bring em back. Sorry no clue how to give you a video clip! I will learn one day.

Bless your little heart honey!
I have no kids! In those years there was no hopping into bed with all and sundry. If you got taken home it was a snog if you were lucky where I lived. Never an invite indoors that would be a mega mistake. I was still at Uni when you were rearing your family. Still we have so many good memories to hang on to. We were in demand then. The tap on the shoulder asking us to dance, the worry of the sweaty hands for a slow number with that white dress on! the paw marks on the back of it. Na you are not old you look super kid!! Now we are only as old as the guy we are feeling!! hehheheheehh hug

Sail........I've got to share this with you because I've only recently learnt how to put video links on myself thanks to wonderful support on this site.

Right...........here goes.........are you ready???

First you type in the square type brackets. Then immediately after (without any spaces) you copy and paste the link from Youtube or wherever. Then straight after without any spaces you put

So it's link from youtube handshake

Hi C.... wave ... Great thread.... Can relate to all of the above... except we went out dancing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night... and sometimes on a Wednesday.... No alcohol served in the discos in Dublin back then....so we had to have our fill in a pub beforehand ... cheers... Then dance the legs off ourselves... and... (if we didn't get off with a fella who would pay for our taxi), ... walk the six miles home... always running past the graveyard... uh oh ... Then trying to sneak in quietly, .... opening the door with they key that was hanging from a string in the letterbox...., and creeping upstairs hoping that my Da would not wake up and deliver the 'What time do you call this?, No respectable girl would be out till this hour of the night' lecture.... blah blah blah

Ahhh, Happy Days... hug

And what about the slow sets..... Lights off... just the crystal spinning....and over he walks and asks you up.... heart wings heart wings heart wings

Hiya.... wave ... There is a place in Leeds that does '70's and 80's nights... looks like the real thing...they even have the floor that lights up... I was there last year, but can't remember what it's called....but I can ask my sister who lives there..... Might be an idea for a Leeds meet.. grin
