The music of revolution: Peace Train, etc. Wasn't that music great? Bob Marley, John Lennon, Pete Seeger and more!
On the link above, Al Jazeera interviews Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, about his latest song "My People" which is inspired by the popular uprisings calling for freedom and change in the Arab world.
The song was recorded in a studio close to the Berlin Wall which fell in 1989 paving the way for the unification of Germany and the collapse of communism in Europe.
Islam, who gave the world timeless classics such as Wild World, Morning Has Broken and Peace Train, says his song is also intended to urge people in the Arab world to keep fighting for their rights.

Yussuf Islam has publically stated that all he wants for his early (non-Islamic) work is to be destroyed completely, w/o any trace left behind. If anything, Yussuf Islam is the classical case of an intolerant zealot and anything but a messenger of peace.
Because peace w/o tolerance is just the peace of the graveyard !

just the title peace train was cool but the concept never evolved and as world government reconstruction is discussed we need to re-write the entire musical drama all over again so everyone is really satisfied this time that is paying attention.

I think he reversed himself on that in the video. Otherwise why is he there singing his old songs?
Yusuf Islam, formerly known by his stage name Cat Stevens (born Steven Demetre Georgiou on 21 July 1948 in London, UK), is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, educator, philanthropist and prominent convert to Islam.
As "Cat Stevens," Islam has sold over 60 million albums around the world since the late 1960s. His albums Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat were both certified by the RIAA as having achieved Triple Platinum status in the United States (three million sales each); his album Catch Bull at Four sold half a million copies in the first two weeks of release and was Billboard's number-one LP for three consecutive weeks. His songwriting has also earned him two ASCAP songwriting awards (for "The First Cut Is the Deepest," which has been a hit single for four different artists.)
Stevens converted to Islam at the height of his fame in 1977. The following year, he adopted his Islamic name Yusuf Islam and left his music career to devote himself to educational and philanthropic causes in the Muslim community. In 2006, he returned to pop music, with his first album of new pop songs in 28 years, entitled An Other Cup.
He has been given several awards for his work in promoting peace in the world, including the 2004 Man for Peace award and the 2007 Mediterranean Prize for Peace. He lives with his wife, Fauzia Mubarak Ali, and five children in Brondesbury Park, London, and spends part of each year in Dubai.

And he was also put on the US Anti-Terrorist watch list and denied and entry visa on several occasions, exactly because of his continued support for Islamic radicals. He has also stated in an interview that the death penalty for apostates (-> Death fatwa afainst Salmon Rushdie) is an accepted form of punishment in every major religion and is OK with him.

Hmmm, I'll need to see that remark in full context. I just like his music and admire his courage in converting to Islam, if that is where he finds his heart to be.
I love the man's music and most if not all that I love was written before he became so political ( I htink anyway, was before I even thought any of it was important) I can listen to his music al day and night
