They've had an earthquake and a tsunami. Now they have a third reactor in danger of meltdown. They are starting to think the unthinkable....the worst is yet to come. They have not as yet had time to count or bury their dead. And after all this is over, their ecconomy will be finished. Already they have run out of essentials including the disposable filters for dialisis units. These poor people now have a death sentence!

My heart goes out to them.
Japanese people will endure difficult times, they have proven that regarding to radiation.
This time, radiation will be shared with every living organism in this planet.
I am praying for Japan.... my brother just text me from the Philippines saying that they are encouraged not to eat seafoods bec of the nuclear meltdown in JAPAN...the Philippines is very close proximity there .....
The chain of events in Japan is heartbreaking as it all continues to unfold. I can only imagine the few people staying at the nuclear plant doing their best to try and prevent another meltdown, with the full knowledge that the high possibility of an explosion will be the end of their life. What incredible heroes.
Maybe I saw too much movie or tv opera about WW2, when I first saw the scene of their earthquake debris, what in my mind is those terrible war scene with a lot of Chinese corpses in the movie....
But when I saw the figures of death...reaching almost 11000...really sorry for that...at sametime I really admire those Japanese people can keep calm and quiet even can see smile in their face in that situation....
And they keep their shelter very clean even with more than 10000 people there....very good quality indeed....
Anyway we are all human beings, we live on same planet, hope the disaster can be over as soon as possible....and never come again.

Don't worry for Japan You may grieve for their current suffering, but there's no need to worry for their long term outlook. At least not as far as the quake, the tsunami and even the exploding nuclear plants are concerned.
Japanese people are highly educated. Compared to them most American - and even some European - people are just buddy scratching dimwits.
Sorry to put it so bluntly, but there's a reason for the record breaking suicide rate amongst Japanese high school students. The pressure to succeed they're under is relentless.
Japanese infrastructure is likewise well developed, they've got the machinery required to allow their engineers to succeed.
And on top of all that, their culture strongly emphasizes the common good over the individuals quest for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Just the opposite of the American culture, which is one of the reasons why in the US everyone tends to be on his own in such a catastrophe (see New Orleans).
So Japan will recover from this disaster.
But the much greater problem they face of an ever aging population and a sky high public deficit, that one they will not get rid of as easily.
As the high deficit necessitates higher taxes, which in turn discourage the raising of large families in an educated populous, which in turn causes an ever bulging overhead of old people, which finally cause sky high government expenditures for social, medical and welfare services
In other words, if the Japanese would be less educated, they would have less problems in the long term, but a harder time to recover from natural disasters (see Haiti).
