This is one of those stupid threads that are only ever spawned our of frustration or anger......

Do you ever wonder why when you slice your finger open while cooking, it is always in one of those stupid spots that you can't quite bandage so you have to stop cooking and order in food and you get overweight and unhealthy and a bit nauseas...but still your finger is injured?

Do you ever wonder why people write very long run-on sentences when they should know better because they are a teacher??

Thanks Miss Smoky. I shall not feel guilty about my off-duty run on sentences then. And Sifu, I shall cook dinner tonight with a very sharp knife then. wave

Was about to answer that no, I don’t wonder, just write those events off on my general clumsiness… laugh But it was before I’ve read day’s mail. After I’ve read it, yes, I’ve got a question “Why?”roll eyes

Why, oh why do people, I don’t know, assume that it’s ok to pour over me all their sorrows? Something wrong with my face?

dunno

Wonder .. no, not really.. but I do assume that the wine used for cooking has been sipped prior to it being used in the dish that one is cooking... Da magic rule is not to partake of this elixir until the dish is doused wine

Moronic words of Immanuelle: Stay out of the kitchen!!

immanuelle: Hi Miss Smoky. It's not so much the dull knives, mine are all quite dull, it's the crazy fruit and vegetable architect in the sky who decided to make fruits and vegetables all rounded and slippery when wet and cutting boards flat. Makes them damn fruit and vegetables move all over the damn place when you are trying to slice and dice the damn things!

Hiya Imma

Would you consider first slicing off a bit of the fruit to create a flat surface, and then stand the said fruit on the flat part and continue slicing at required?comfort

Actually...the sharper the knife -the better.. you curl your fingers around the object to be slice using the edge of your fingers as a guide and then slice through -remembering to keep a form grip on the object..
Another thing do not slice off the ends of a lemon or orange before slicing- they can be used as 'Grip" when slicing...
