I am usually so pleased when the time comes around for the old carboots to kick off.
The first thing I think of is a mega clearout. I crusify myself doing one or two in a season. Do sell lots of gear, but the downside is go off wandering around it, and mostly find things that I buy so defeating the object! not entirely but to a degree.
Do you go?
Do you like them?
Doubt if there will be any posts on this one, but its something to talk about from my point of view. conversing

Hiya wave

well i have to work every other weekend but do occasionally go in the summer on a sunday morning when i'm not on my travels. There is a massive car boot sale about 15 miles from where i live . Usually end up buying loads of stuff i don't really need & end up taking it to charity shops though laugh

I used to go rarely years ago and buy the odd toy, jigsaw, book etc for my kid but not really a fan of them. Some of my friends love them though and go to all the carboots in different towns.

I like charity shops too. I usually look in them for some old lace and jewellery to use in my mixed media crafting....found some old lace once wrapped around a folded piece of paper. When I took the lace off the paper to wash it I found the piece of paper was dated in 1947 and there was info about the war written on it,still got that piece of paper.

Zellarrone1: They are heartless, they don't care if they nick anything of sentimental value or not.

I was burgled about 16 years ago by drug dealers when I was in bed. Son was asleep too, it was early morning and he was off school ill. Anyhow, he gets up and goes downstairs for a drink and sees all video missing and his megadrive games gone, also his disney videos etc. At least they could all be replaced though and nothing of sentimental value or of any real value was stolen.
had a colllection of football memrobillia stolen in the early 90s it was my grandfathes before mine and i was guted thouid let him downmoping moping moping moping moping

When I was younger, I was taken to them quite often and I enjoyed looking at all the things. Never was allowed to buy anything, not until I went to a great family. I haven't been to a Car Boot sale for many years now, although I tried to arrange for my oldest sons girlfriend and her sister, to take some stuff to one to sell. No Joy..

I love browsing round car boots .. but most are too far to get to without a car .. I enjoy browsing round a few bric-a-brac stalls in the market too sometimes and occasionally charity shops - I like small unusual jugs especially old ones.

I 'found' the last teapot on a carboot about 2 years ago .. it was in perfect condition in the shape of a hen .. and a bargain at £3 too! grin

Interesting about the paper dating back to the 1940's -- I love looking through really old magazines, newspapers and others.

I enjoy browsing in charity shops too for perhaps things I can add to the garden (large jugs or vases), I keep a look out for small jugs too, or hand embroidered pillows, chair backs, tray cloths etc as these can make really nice gifts .. ie. pomanders for drawers or coat hangers, or just hanging on door handles ... or covering wooden coat hangers, favourite books, small boxes etc, lots of uses for prettily worked fabrics - adding small beads here and there too makes things even nicer.

wave Hi Darren, Great the old carboot on a w/e the drive behind the people the effort they make to get rid of the gear they dont want. I have had some mega stuff from carboots. Wish ours would start fed up waiting this year, soon they start the rain will come down. hug
