Long live the Queen!

Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 85th birthday on April 21 and continues her reign as the oldest monarch in English history so raise a glass (or cup of tea) in her honor.

What's wrong with you people! Why do you want a King or a Queen?
Hello?

Whether you believe in the monarchy or not, she has done a sterling job for many years, through hard times.

God Bless Her, and All Who Sail in Her..

The Royal family of the United Kingdom is also the Royal familly of the following countries:

Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

All of these countries have a Governer-General who represents the Queen in their own country.

The following countries also have monarchies:

Bahrain, Belgium, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Denmark, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lesotho, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Morocco, the Netherlands (Holland), Norway, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden, Thailand, Tonga, and the United Arab Emirates.

Impressive?

Im sure the British people do like their queen but they might not like the fact that it costs them a few billion to keep her and her family nice and comfy.

HEAR HEAR!

I SAY: A TOAST TO HER LONGIVITY AND THANKS FOR KEEPING CREEPY PRINCE CHARLES OFF THE THRONE.

YES SHE IS A LOVELY LADY...MY MOTHER LOOKS LIKE HER AND WILL BE 85 NEXT MONTH.

SHES A NICE FIGUREHEAD AND A LADY OF WISDOM AT TIME FOR THE WORLD.
HOWEVER, MY FONDNESS FOR HER DIMMED WHEN PRINCESS DIANNA DIED AND SHE DID NOT RESPOND WELL.
ALSO ALLOWING THAT OTHER WOMAN INTO THE CASTLE SHOWED POOR FORM.
OF COURSE CHARLES IS THE PROBLEM.

THE MONARCHY IS ANTIQUATED...

Short of a revolution, I'm not sure we have a lot of choice in the matter.

I do kinda feel that under any other circumstances and from what I've seen, the way William and Harry were raised would be considered child cruelty.

Sooner, or later things will have to change for that reason, if no other.

Before you make such a statement I suggest you actually check your facts.
According to government figures, it costs approximately 40 billion per year, this money from from the land given to the British government by King George III, the actual income derived from the land is around 200 million, which means the Government earn 140 million in profit, which saves the tax payer paying any extra. If you really want to be pedantic, the 40 million is approx 65 pence per tax payer.
Then of course you have to work out how much revenue the Royals bring in tourism, in encouraging companies to invest in the UK etc, that is almost impossible to quantify, but is believed to be about 7 Billion per year.
And before you knock Prince Charles his income comes solely from the produce sold from his estate, he also pay tax and pays millions towards the Princes trust to help young people get into business.
Besides, we already know that a republican country fairs no better than one with a monarch so why lose the golden egg?
