Guy at my ex work drinking a coffee and using his Blackberry when he was sat at the lights 100 yards from the office... 3 days running as I am a motorbike rider and was in charge of IT on the 3rd day he sent his secratary to ask why his Blackberry was switched off... oooo the power I had... when I said he would need to come and see me himself he said he was too important... next I knew his boss phoned me and asked what was going on... so I told him what was happening and as that it was illegal and he wouldn't come and see me... His boss then had a quiet word with him which ended up with the guy getting a written warning and IT was suddenly sent cream cakes from the bakery 5 doors down... and for my final month there as I always went to work I never saw him use a Blackberry or drink coffee in his company car again... moral DONT mess with IT... or the Cleaners or Security or annoy your Secratary as we will screw up your work life...
There seems to be a huge rash of drivers not signaling--also in close second place is a very arrogant and dangerous attitude toward pedestrians. (We have had several city council meetings about a particular area that demanded immediate attention as family was nearly killed more than once). I don't understand the lack of signaling--it should be so ingrained that one automatically does it whether really 'necessary' or not. JMO

Did you know that it is technically illegal to eat and drink while driving? In fact, any open container can be used in court as enough of a probable cause to claim the driver was inebriated, even if his BAC passes testing. This is because judges side with the police in terms of an open container being suspect--that is, one could put any drink in an already open container. The eating thing--they tend to let that go, after all, there are scads of drive-in restaurants, etc... but if they wanted to be heavy handed, they could cite for it per law. As much as I dislike superfluous regulating, I agree that driving is a task, you need both hands on the wheel/available, no smoking, drinking, eating, reading, etc...while trying to drive. I am on the policemens' side regarding this.
On I-270, I was two lanes over and behind a car driving in the center lane. In the distance I saw a large object in the center lane. The car in front of me to the left didn't seem to notice it, I started to slow down sensing some kind of accident. The object became clear, it was a recliner sitting in its reclined position like someone was taking a nap on the middle of the freeway and got out of it without putting the footrest back in position... At about 20 feet away from the recliner, the other car's driver slammed on their brakes causing a huge cloud of tire smoke right before hitting and obliterating the recliner. They hit it so hard that it was difficult to see any pieces of it left, the only thing I saw was pillow stuffing and shattered wood flying around. My guess is,,, they were texting and driving.......
