duncansantan: dubai has a lot of beaches and hotel. even goa has the same thing. but is the shopping worth it or i am wasting my money on the trip to dubai?
I think you need to be more specific in what you actually want to buy. Dubai has one of the best shopping centres in the world, but, incredibly expensive, as most shops are designer stores. If you want to buy clothes or electrical items I would suggest Singapore or Hong Kong, like I say, it all depends on what you want to purchase.

Hi you, how is life? all good I hope, I visited Nanjing this last holiday to see the University and the city, very interesting and beautiful, I may move there in 2012. I like shopping and have shopped in Dubai, but for me HK is the best place.

I was talking about this very thing this evening with a friend this evening who was a tour guide once in Dubai, and said that the best buys are in the Dubai markets. I found the airport goods to be so cheap, incredibly so. Especially cosmetics and herbal products at a tiny little pharmacy. Also bought a new Samsung netbook at a really great price.
Anyway, at the souks(markets, apparently, the shopkeepers expect you to get into some serious haggling. Gold is supposed to be of high quality and very cheap. I rather like the idea of the spice souk, with all the dried fruit from local middle eastern countries, and the freshest of spices.... Beats waiting for hours at the airport.
Mall of the Emirates is where you can going skiing on real snow.... Before you blame the Arabs, I understand it was the brainchild of UK engineers.

What you mean is that level of engineering is beyond the Arabs, but it was indeed the Sheikhs idea - that along with the indoor, air-conditioned football stadiums in the desert.

Not for me to say...There would be some very bright Arabs out there.
Still, we can certainly say it was a collaborative effort...

nothing was made by them , it was all foreigners. sheik pays professionals to think and give him ideas, and then he pretends it was his ideas. he has nothing but a shalong
I've read nothing which would persuade me to go to Dubai on holiday! Is it just another place for the mega-rich to show off, or does it have something to offer in the way of culture?
