Anybody else having trouble with mice? I read in our local paper that Bacchus Marsh & Melton areas are being hardest hit my this mouse plague in Victoria. The little vermin are everywhere. Apparently the flooding up north has driven them south for food. Filthy little animals they are. mumbling

laugh I have someone else's cat here, works a treat for me. applause It does like to wander through the house though. The kids and I were playing guitar hero one day and it took a leisurely stroll past distracting us...'was that a cat?' while we were trying to watch the screen confused laugh

a mouse trap that is having a lot of success is:

20 litre bucket with about 3-5 litres of water in it
a small plank with a nail in one end
an empty wine bottle with peanut butter placed in dots on the sides of the bottle

use the plank as a ramp up to the bucket, place the wine bottle neck over the nail and rest the base on the other side of the bucket.

the mice come and try to get to the peanut butter, slip off the side and drown. Sorry not a very humane death but this is efficient.

you just have to dispose of the bodies in the morning

can catch quite a few mice a night

Ive got a few questions Jem....

Do they slip on the peanut butter?

What does the nail do? Is it a crusifixion symbol?

Cant mice swim?
do they mouse paddle?

If a mouse falls in the bucket and no ones around does it still squeak?

Does the trap work if they are carrying absailing equipment ?
dunno

they slip on the glass of the bottle while they try to reach the bait on the side of the round bottle

the nail is so you can slip the neck of the bottle over it so it holds up the neck for the mice to use as a bridge.

I would imagine the mouse squeeks, but if no one is around to hear it I cant be certain.

and... I know there is a plague of mice but hadnt heard of abseil equipment carrying mice, but imagine if there is such equppied mice that they would get out of the trap, and get a lot of places as well.

sorta reminds me of a nonsense poem from childhood from my grandma:

shocking shocking shocking
a flea ran up my stocking
ohhhhhhh what did he see there??
shocking shocking shocking!laugh
