revealer24: I know people who offered companies to work for free in order to gain work experience, but they were not interested.

I work for myself. How many times a day do you think I get knocked back on the product I sell??

You'd be surprised!! one day I rang ALL the local resturants (20+) to see if I could do table arrangments for Valentines Day. Didnt get ONE taker. So I sat back and looked at my approach, at what I would do differently next time, and how I would re-sell the idea next year.

Everyone has to deal with knockbacks. Its how you deal with them thats important. Stephenie Meyer who wrote the Twilight book series got rejected 10 times before her book got published...look at it now. Stephen King got rejected over 50 times before he was first published.

If its worth it, you keep going. Yes its difficult, yes its depressing at times, yes sometimes you have to fight really hard for the things that are important to you.

I would have set up a cosher deal with all of the local general stores/milkbars to leave a few buckets of flowers on valentines day in their stores.

normalguy68: Other than Australia it is the Scandinavian countries that were the least affected by the CFG. The reason is simply that they have very high tax and strong welfare system. This means much smaller wealth disparity, which in turn means people have money to buy goods and services. Seems they were better off like Australia was because they had some money in the bank like the co-alition had brovided Rudd with.
If we hadn't had the billions there to spend, we may very well have seen a huge buble bursting around Aus. as middle income earners went into bankrupcy over crippling mortgage and credit card debts.

The Coalition repaid a lot of public debt, but during their reign private debt skyrocketed. In the end it did not help really because the private sector had to borrow to do what the government didn't do.

According to a report I read last year the banking sector would have collapsed if the US didn't buy up all their toxic assets. That was the very thing that saved the Australian economy from the collapse, not the low level of public debt.

normalguy68: You don't just have to sell on ebay, there's quicksales and your own website too. I was pulling in $500 week in sales of secondhand stuff so don't think you're throwing it all away by lowering yourself to that sort of level. Considering I did my ebay sales after work, putting a full time effort in could bring a lot more $$ in than what I quoted, but 2nd hand stuff isn't the only stuff that sells online these days.

Where did you source your stuff from. What's in the garage is limited, you can't have a continual income from it.
