I think if someone takes the time to send you an email or message it is only polite to respond even if it is to say no you are not interested

Is there such a thing as email etiquette? or are we expecting too much.

What do you think?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Recently I sent a flower to a regular Forum poster just saying, hey I think you're cool. It was not the sort of message that really invited any response, and in fact, that poster has not responded. So that's okay.

But, presuming the contact is some expression of romantic interest...as a guy, I try to keep in mind that women on CS are likely deluged by such, and if they haven't the time or energy to reply to each and every one, maybe I should try fitting into their dainty shoes before I get grumpy about not getting a reply.

So true, though she doesn't know me and with my luck I'd get reported rolling on the floor laughing

If you stay long on CS forums, soon you'll find out what email etiquette is,and you will form your own opinion.

Take each email individually...like most, if the first email includes a personal addy or asks for mine, I block and delete....also, the emails that are/seem canned, so many of those....I do think if you determine the communication is sincere you should respond even if it is just a "thank you for your interest"...and it does not hurt to exchange a few back and forth before deciding it is a scam, nothing lost but a little time.....dunno The scam mail does not bother me that much.....wine

Hi Leigh,

I feel very bad that I dont reply because I now assume that it is all scam, so unless its someone who I know, I never reply.

Yes, I know its rude.. but Its gotten to the point that I cannot discern between scam and not scam.. sigh

Hey thanks for your feedback and yes I am new to this however are we not all in it for the same thing excluding scammers..?

Why even bother sending a flower or a message if you are not interested seems a complete waste of time to me. GET A LIFE I SAY

or is there something more sinister going on here - why would I even bother wasting my time if there is not quarantee that I will even some sort of response even if it is a thanks but no thanks....I can handle rejection or is that it fear of rejection?

wave Hi Merri...Yes, there are days when I feel like the scammers rule......but also find them so transparent and, well, just plain stupid.....Wonder why mods do not spend more time and effort cleaning house?....hug

There's little they could do that wouldn't amount to making this a pay site. As long as it remains free (Yay! cheering Woohoo!), they must depend on advertising revenues to support all our tomfoolery ( dancing ). To attract advertiser dollars, they must attract as many viewers -- members -- as possible. So every bozo scammer that opens a membership just to pester you with pleas to join them at their y,a,h,o,o, addy is in fact lightening the dollar-load on you.

E-MAIL ETIQUETTE...

I agree...first impressions go far..

There's only one way to go in life....and that's no expectations..

In fact...expect the worst from people, especially over the net...where it's so easy to be anybody but yourself.

Have seen people post this a few times and am left wondering, who are these women and how do they attract the mails? If it wasnt for the scammers I would never have mail lol.

Just had a look at your profile and I noticed you've put you're looking for an activity partner although I suspect you are not aware of what this generally means.
I put that on my profile when I first joined as I was looking for a climbing/walking partner. Little did I know this was not the kind of activity most people assumed I meant and the strange mail I received for a while confirmed that.
Needless to say, I soon changed that on my profile.laugh
