Answering your front door just because they knocked (13)
jonnt: Morning Folks .
As i have just been on the Wee thread ,and sitting here early ish {11.00 hrs}Bank holiday Sunday ,an the rest of the u.k forums seem to be still asleep {and probably deserve a lie in , i have just heard my front door get knocked upon .
So let me start a new thread .
I live in a house with a front entrance and a back entrance ,being able to exit or approach in iether 2 different directions .
My car {van} is kept at the rear , out of site and access to the back of my property is restricted from view by the general public .
So the only way to attract my attention is from the front doo
{This i purposely never use,or even answer .
Even my Dog doesnt Bark anymore for some reason when someone knocks .
All my friends {whom im very selective about }have been given access to the rear of my property and have the security number to have access to my communications system to say there there .
Also my mobile fone number is only given out to selected people ,so obviosly when my fone rings i know who you are before i answer {all our mobiles do that dont they }My landline number is given out even less .
MY POINT
Why do unwelcomed people i have no wish to communicate with knock on my front door time in year out still do it . !
Do they think im going to have a bloody memory loss about who gets access and who doesnt and open the door ..

or door to door sales people ........ I have a note attached to my porch door say No thanks to those people plus the religious ones too. It works!

I know one lady who has a sign on her door door sayimg the same ,plus No Free newspapers ,sometimes it doesnt work ,and iff she catches them she makes them return and actualy pick them up off the floor in her hall . and take them away .
All my friends have the same attitude ,and why not

Hi Brum Mum , no most of the time its officaldom ,
I wont let them in , they have no legal rite .
I get the regular bible thumpers, the salesman that want you to change electric/gas/telephone suppliers, to name a few. Do I open my door...no I don't.I'm fortunate to live above ground level in a maisonette, so I can usually see who is doing the rounds...

Ive been hounded by the t.v.licence people for years ,even foned them up , but they still wanted access , no way , my house ,keep there dirty feet off me carpet .
There not getting in , they have NO Powers , and it was me who had to pay for the fone call i made ,, no more .

The TV licence is now a big con, you can watch most of BBc's programmes online anyway.

It is a con ,but apparently they conned us .
Once upon a time you didnt need a licence with a p.c. {telly licence that is }because you were watching pre recorded anything you wanted ,, but then the B.B.C. made live watch available ,hence you need a licence .
It was ok till they deliberately put on live t.v.
Abit like having a car outside your house and someone knocks on your door to say they want £10 for cleaning it ,
We never realy asked for live t.v. iether .

However, did you know that if you own a pc or laptop you are now required to have a tv licence even if you have no TV? its classed as a reciever! heheheh they are taking the Mick!!
The door knockers! Usually the Religious Ones come knocking and times I just ignore it. They have caught me out a few times though. Just opened the door and told them I believe in nothing. They soon are hitting the street.

They dont know that you mostly use the back (but they do now..)
If I'm not expecting anyone, I dont open the door - usually someone trying to sell me something that I didn't want five minutes earlier, and which they think I will suddenly want. I argued that God was an alien spaceman to a bunch of jehovas a couple of years ago, that was fun, they made their excuses and left thinking I was completey barking ....
