This thread isnt about World Inventions as such , but more about how some things have progressed and yet someone like me has been left behind in putting up and struggeling with the old ways of doing things .

Maybe a thread for the older ones like myself to know were im coming from .

Last week one of my Sons lent me a Cordless Drill as i wont use my Electric Drill in the Rain ,obviously .

Its simply amazing , now wires trailing everywere and no fiddling with a Chuck Key that always gets lost anyway as its easy twist tighten or loosen by hand to replace drill bits .

Why have i all ways struggled doing things the hard way in the past .

Anyone else got anything in mind .

Up until a few years ago, I had a hand sewing machine,it was still serviceable when I sold it at a car boot sale.My new machine is electric and does just about everything, I wish I'd got an electric one sooner.

I don't know how you can be confused Jonnt as your initial comment was about a cordless drill, I said I preferred using my hammer drill .... to a cordless type.

Hey L, Nothing wrong with the way I answer the question you have not made it specific to any old invention we all grew up knowing about the Sinclair whether any of us was ever lucky enough to own one that is a different subject, but obvious we have come along way as you, mentioned in the thread above, but what are you trying to specifically imply in your old inventions, as the Sinclair was also a old invention alright!or was it NOT!

Hi Geonee.

Im trying to find out passed inventions that have made our life simpler ,but the likes of me have struggled by not adopting them and struggled by doing it the old way .

Example , i have always used an electric drill , struggling with chuck keys ,ripping my knuckes to bits with chuck keys , and then i lend a cordless drill ,and ,no chuck key , change bits in seconds ,and no wires draping all over the floor .

Although there not completely new on the market ,why the heck have i been struggling with the old method all these years .

The old washing machines! Single Tub with the
rollers on the top that you had to put the clothes
through to take the water out of them.

Moved to the Twin Tub, where you dragged from one tub
to the other to spin the laundry.

Moved to the Automatic that does the whole lot!!

that is moving on ain't that for sure!

Morning Sail ,

In this threadi was trying to find out who has updater with old technology but only very recently like me , to then realise what they {me} have been missing out on over the years of what has been in general supply .

I personaly are what some term as old school ,{sorry for the always over used Cliches}

Im in a mind set of "Fix and Mend", and iff it still works then dont renew it just for the sake of keeping up with the Jones"s.

Why have i got this mindset ,because the Jones"s dont impress me , but unfortunately sometimes it has left me in a little bit of the dark ages .

Many thing I will not move with the times on I
prefer the out of date older items!

Disc brakes and suspension forks on my mountainbike . So much more effective than the old brake blocks in stopping safely . Suspension so much more comfy too .
