ANNOUCEMENT!

Be it known that the first "Running of The Bears" will be held near Swan Hills, Alberta on July 1st, 2011.

Unlike Barcelona, Spain, with their somewhat tame and lame "Running of the Bulls",....basically tame, domestic livestock, the "Running of the Bears" will provide a far greater level of spectacle for the audience!

Come on, come all,....just be sure to leave your sanity at the door.

PS - Vancouver rioters are excluded!! We value the safety of our bears!! (Just kiddng,....our bears are capable of protecting themselves!)

i plan on entering a local bear from here in the running next year .i think i can catch him using ice cream as bait and a large peice of sticky paper.i think i can transport him there for the running but will have a great deal of difficulty getting him bach in the cage after the performance so i might leave him there to improve the local genetics.i think if we cross him with alberta d o t people we can shut down trucking completly in western canada.speaking of that i saw on t v this a m that 20 tears ago the independant trucker hauled 80 % of the freight in america.now its 10% ....more than sad aint it ?

Some Yukon bear blood down here would definitely spice up the genetics!

Yeah, unfortuanetly a lot of "independent" people have been phased out, truckers, farmers, you name it - too much goverment rules, regulations, fees,....

Hell, before I know it some suit government suit will show up at my door saying a need a license to "Run the Bears", and must post a bond, have insurance, and have a government inspector ensure that all the bears are able to run,...

Wow! Well, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your bears to the "Running",....so far its only gordy and his Yukon entry, and my beloved "Chuckles" - mighty yet terribly near-sighted and not quite house-broken grizzly, as participants!

250 you say,....from the UK, are they not?

Off the top of my head I can't remember where the original artist Patricia Hillman is from ....... but I bought all of them from Canada except Benji who I bought from a trip to the U.S. It was appreciation from first sight. Actually they make originals for each country .... so some of them are exclusive pieces.

I believe Patricia is from the UK,...but I may be mistaken,...but 250 exhibits a passion, appreciation, and dedication that is impressive!

PS- Chuckles agrees!

langleygirl: Gotta watch out for those deer as well. I saw a clip of them the other night on the news, it was scary to watch.

My Brian is nuts about bears as well. He bought bears kissing for the wedding cake topper :-)

That's just so cute. Not sure if I'll ever have a wedding cake, but I'd probably want something different than the traditional.

Would you like a wedding cake? What are you hinting at by non-traditional,..?

(He says trying to get her to think about something else other than outposting the tired old moose!)

Non-traditional in the sense of the bride/groom on the top. I actually have a beautiful glass blown piece that is a heart shaped design. As for the actual cake ....... chocolate would be wonderful ..... alas though, its probably never going to happen and not even sure I'd want to get married (a part of me does/a part of me is uncertain).

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing Why am I not surprised that it would be chocolate?rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

I will admit that some of the best weddings I have ever attended, have been "non-traditional".

Marriage - that is a topic that generates far more discussion than I have time to write about today,...but whether you do, or do not ever get married, you would make a very beautiful bride!bouquet

(Huh,...what's that Chuckles? No! I am not trying to distract her so I can win a posting war! I lost, again! Anyways, that wouldn't be fair! It was an actual compliment,...sheesh,...stupid grizzly!)
