i dont know if that will help you, but:
Record his verbal outbrakes, mabye your mobile phone has a record function....... than, when he is in a calmer mood, play it to him.....
some people dont realise how bad there behaviour is and need to see/hear it first
If that fails or you cant do it.. Why dont you turn arround after one of his outbrakes and say to him
" Any chance you say it again but like an Adult?"

Lovely_Libra: For three years i have been my own boss, and now i need to get used to a new management. My boss is often verbally abusive, and because of this i constantly get stressed out. Has anyone dealt with the same situation. I would prefer to tell him politely to stop , but i am not sure if i am entitled to tell him to do anything...Anyone else have it as bad as I do?

I'm lucky to have a very nice boss, he's been great to me in the 5 years I've worked for him.
I have, however, in the past, had a particular boss who was a complete bully and I ended up leaving rather than putting up with her. Life's too short to be that unhappy.

Thanks a lot for the answers. I tried some autotraining to cope with the situation and finally today told him that when i hear shouting and so on i usually get a headache afterwards...
He answered he is not a bad man, but it happens sometimes that he can not express himself in a form different from shouting. LOL
